House of Commons passes Brexit trigger Article 50

UK Prime Minister Theresa May won approval from Parliaments lower chamber on 8 February to trigger Britains exit from the European Union. The bill passed straight through the lower house despite attempts by pro-EU MPs to make amendments to the bill. Lawmakers (MPs) voted 494 to 122 in favour of legislation giving May the right to trigger Article 50, ending days of intense debate. Feb 9, 2017

Sajid Javid says John Bercow does not speak for the Government after Donald Trump comments

UK Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Sajid Javid has insisted Donald Trump is welcome to visit the country, despite House of Commons Speaker John Bercow labelling the US president racist and sexist. Javid insisted that Bercow does not speak for the government and that it doesnt matter who the president is, we want to work with that person. The Speaker came come under fire for his statements, where he also claimed he plans to block Trump from making a speech in the Commons. Feb 7, 2017
