Nuclear-capable 'Agni-5' successfully tested for second time

Wheeler Island, SEP 15 (ANI): The country's most deterrent nuclear capable ballistic missile, Agni-5 has been successfully test fired from Chandipur Test Range in Balasore district off Odisha coast. The missile was launched at 8.45 on Sunday morning. The Agni-5 can carry a single nuclear warhead of over 1000 kg and can strike with precision targets in China and Europe.

Secular tourism on communal riots in UP: Naqvi

New Delhi, Sep 15 (ANI): As UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visits riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, a week after the communal clashes started there, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi taunted Yadav saying that this is a secular tourism on communal riots that happened in the town. Naqvi further said that there won't be any benefit of this 'secular tourism' and it would further intensify the pain people are going through. Talking about the statement given by SP leader Azam Khan, he said that people who died were neither Muslims nor Hindus, they were human beings.

BSF seizes contraband drugs worth Rs 85 cr

Amritsar, Sep 15 (ANI): Alert personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab seized 17 kilograms of contraband heroin, worth rupees 85 crores in the international market. BSF has been working on several improvised operational guidelines to trim down the frequent narcotics smuggling from across the border. Addressing the mediapersons in Amritsar district, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of BSF, Ravi Joseph said that the patrolling team of force had laid an ambush and early in the morning they observed movement of two to three smugglers near security fence along the border fencing.

Muzaffarnagar: Police fail to arrest BJP MLA booked for triggering violence

Dehradun, Sep 15 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh police unsuccessfully tried to nab BJP legislator Bharatendra Singh for his alleged role in triggering the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar district of UP. Singh's supporters prevented his arrest after he was booked by the police along with four other BJP legislators, contending that the police have no arrest warrant. Singh had allegedly made a provocative speech at a farmers' gathering, named Khap Panchayat that led to communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar. On this aspect, Bharatendra Singh said that the policemen had no grounds for arresting him.

Odisha: Police gunned down 13 Maoists

Odisha, Sep 15 (ANI): The top brass of police in Odisha revealed details of the operation that gunned down 13 Maoists, including a very high ranking Maoist leader and a woman cadre, under Kalimela in Malkangiri region of the province. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were also seized after this counter anti-insurgency operation. Briefing the media, Superintendent of Police, Malkangiri, Akhilesh Singh said that an offensive had been launched by the personnel of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) to track down these Maoists.
