After Phailin and Helen, Andhra Pradesh braces itself for Cyclone Lehar

Hyderabad, Nov 25 (ANI): After being hit by cyclones Phailin and Helen, Andhra Pradesh braces itself to face Cyclone Lehar which will hit the coastal state on November 28, according to Met office. State Disaster Management Commissioner C Parthasarathy said that the cyclone taken in the category of severe cyclone. He said that the wind velocity will be around 170-180 km per hour and there will be heavy rainfall too. Parthasarathy also said that there will be a video conferencing with all the collectors of the state for preparation. And that the state is taking all assistance from NDMA and home ministry in New Delhi.

BNP led violence in Bangladesh irks world community

Dhaka, Nov 25: There is no end to the deadlock in Bangladesh ahead of general elections scheduled for early next year. The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its 17 alliance have adopted violent means to oppose poll-time all-party government formed by the Sheikh Hasina led Awami League. BNP chief Khalida Zia recently met President Abdul Hamid seeking his intervention to end the political deadlock by making the best use of his constitutional authority. However, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Biswal on her visit to Dhaka met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Khalida Zia and laid emphasis on holding free and fair elections in the country.

India and Bangladesh vow to fight militancy and cross-border crimes

Tripura, Nov 25 (ANI): Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir were in Tripura on November 17 to inaugurate the first multi-purpose Integrated Check Post along the Bangladesh border at Akhaurah. India plans to set up 5 such posts with Bangladesh to further boost trade and people to people contact between the northeastern states and Bangladesh. The Akhaura land customs is one of the most important international trading land ports in eastern India, dealing with around 4,500 people every month travelling between the two countries.

Northeast showcases its rich culture and traditions at India International Trade Fair

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): A large number of crafts persons and entrepreneurs from eight northeastern states are participating in the India International Trade Fair 2013 in New Delhi. Each state has a dedicated pavilion at the fair with different themes. Around 20 exhibitors from Nagaland showcased a variety of products like handloom, artificial jewellery, decorative items, paintings and cultural artifacts. Emilo, an entrepreneur from Nagaland, has come to the capital for the first time. He is thrilled by the response of the people. Exhibitors from Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh also took part in the fair.

Shoma Chaudhury should be arrested: Vidya Shet

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): The Chairperson of the State Commission for Women of Goa, Vidya Shet, on Monday hit out at the Managing Editor of investigative magazine 'Tehelka', Shoma Chaudhury, in the journalist sexual assault case. She condemned Chaudhury and said that she should be arrested as she has given protection to the accused. Shoma was earlier criticized for not handling the complaint of sexual assault by a young woman journalist against the news magazine's founder editor, Tarun Tejpal efficiently.

Mizoram polls: CM Lal Thanhawla confident of victory

Aizawl, Nov 25 (ANI): Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Monday expressed confidence that the Congress party will win with a huge margin in Mizoram. Poisonous food at temple feast leaves 123 children sick

Neemach, Nov 25 (ANI): Around 123 children fell sick after consuming poisonous food at a temple community feast in Madhya Pradesh. The incident came forward in Neemach town of the province on Sunday when children complained of severe diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming contaminated food at a community lunch. The organisation serves food to the poor at the temple of Lord Shiva once a week as a part of their routine. The sick were admitted to a nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Court verdict in Aarushi-Hemraj twin murder case today

Ghaziabad, Nov 25 (ANI): A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court will on Monday pronounce its verdict in the Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj twin murder case. Special Judge S Lal will deliver the verdict, after a 15-month-long trial of Aarushi's parents, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. The dentist couple is presently on bail.
