Parliament Winter Session: CPI stresses on passing of pending bills

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): CPI leader D Raja on Tuesday said that he and his party wants to set certain priorities on the pending bills as there are certain bills pending in Rajya Sabha which are passed by Lok Sabha and vice versa. He further said that his party wants strong and effective Lok Pal Bill, Women Reservation Bill and Reservation for SC and ST.

Is article 370 a holy book that it can't be debated on, asks BJP

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said that Congress should not be bothered by discussion on Article 370 as India is an open democracy and there is always scope for discussions about pros and cons of any issue in an open democracy. He also questioned Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on non-implementation of Right to Information and Food Security Bill in the state when it's functional in the rest of India. He also added that article 370 cannot be used as a protective sheet over corruption and failure.

Govt will try to pass important bills through debates: Rajeev Shukla

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): As the 12 days winter parliament session is set to commence on Thursday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajeev Shukla said that government will try that all the essential topics are being discussed and important bills get passed smoothly. He said that there are parties opposing certain bills, which will be tried to get solved through debates. The session is expected to take up Telangana bill, Lokpal and Women Reservation bill for discussion.

Sushma Swaraj's demand for AK Ganguly's resignation draws mixed reactions

Kolkata/ New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): A day after BJP Senior leader Sushma Swaraj demanded the resignation of former Supreme Court judge AK Ganguly, accused of sexually harassing a law intern, politicos from different political parties reacted on the same. While BJP Vice President supported the fellow party leader's stand, NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that as the investigation is under process, Ganguly should resign. JD (U) leader Shivanand Tiwari said that he should be tried like any other accused and the charge on him cannot be judged on the basis of age or position. Meanwhile, CPM leader Mohd Salim said that the probe should carry on but knowing the former judge, one cannot say that such charges are true.

1984 anti-Sikh riots: SC rejects Sajjan Kumar's plea, asks him to face trial for murder

New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected Sajjan Kumar's petition to drop murder charges against him in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases. The court asked Kumar to face trial for murder in Delhi’s Sultanpuri, during the riots that followed the assassination of late PM Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. The politician stands accused of murder, rioting and promoting hatred between communities which allegedly led to the deaths of six people in Sultanpuri.

Pakistani journalist delegation visits India to boost trade relations

Wagah Border Post, Dec 03 (ANI): A delegation of Pakistani journalists arrived in India and laid emphasis on the need to strengthen trade ties between both the nations in a bid to bolster relations. The delegation entered India through Wagah border post in Punjab, on Monday. The group comprising 23 journalists is on a two-day visit to the holy city of Amritsar and also to see the progress of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) set up by India and Pakistan for cross-border trade.
