Bollywood mourns at Farooq Sheikh's death

Mumbai, Dec 28 (ANI): Expressing sorrow over Farooq Sheikh's sudden death, Bollywood veteran actor Suresh Oberoi and Director Madhur Bhandarkar said that Farooq was a great human being and his death is a big loss for the industry. Further they said that he will always stay in the hearts of people. Farooq suffered a heart attack while he was holidaying with his family in Dubai.

Muzaffarnagar riot-hit victims challenge govt to face cold after UP secy remark

Muzaffarnagar, Dec 28 (ANI): Muzaffarnagar riot-hit victims languishing in relief camps rubbished state government’s report, which stated that death of 34 children in the camp was not due to cold. Victims, on Friday criticised the report of a fact-finding committee that claimed death of children in the camp was not only because of cold but also due to other health and circumstantial problems in the camps. The victims also challenged authorities to come out and experience cold weather. Another riot victim, Sewuman, who lost her girl due to cold weather, also challenged the report of the provincial government.

Beant Singh's assassins released on 28 days parole

Chandigarh, Dec 28 (ANI): Former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassins were released on Thursday on 28 days parole from Burail Jail in Chandigarh. Shamsher Singh and Lakhwinder Singh were given life sentences for their role in the assassination of Beant Singh on August 31, 1995 outside the Punjab civil secretariat in Chandigarh after a suicide bomber triggered the explosive tied in a belt around his waist. An elated Shamsher Singh thanked media and former terrorist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who has been fasting in Amritsar demanding their release.

At least 23 killed and several injured as Bangalore-Nanded express catches fire

Anantpur/ New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): At least 23 people were killed and several injured after a fire engulfed an air conditioned coach of the Bangalore-Nanded express in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh early morning on Saturday. The 'Nanded Express' train was on its way to Nanded from Bangalore, when a three-tier air-conditioned coach caught fire at around 3:30 am. There were around 72 passengers in the coach when the mishap happened. The injured have been rushed to the district hospital. The train driver acted on site and separated the burning bogie from rest of the train to prevent the fire from spreading.

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Around 1,600 Delhi Police personnel will keep tight vigil at Ramlila Ground on Saturday when Delhi to-be- Chief Minister from Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal will arrive at the spot for his swearing ceremony. AAP leaders including Kejriwal is to reach the Ramlila Ground via metro as he rejected any high security and cars for his convenience. Kejriwal will take the oath at 12:00 pm. Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh passes away of heart attack in Dubai

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh aged 65, passed away late Friday night after suffering a sudden heart attack. The actor suffered the heart attack while he was holidaying with his family in Dubai. His body will be brought to Mumbai later in the day after completing the formalities in Dubai. Sheikh was best known for his roles in 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi', 'Chashme Baddoor', 'Kissi Se Na Kehna' and 'Noorie'. He made a tremendous contribution in theatre and TV as well. He was the host of the famous talk show 'Jeena Isi ka naam hai' on television.
