Army prepares comprehensive plans to fight infiltration in Kashmir

Akhnoor, Jan 16 (ANI): The Northern Command of Indian Army said that they have done a comprehensive analysis of the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir region and have defence plans to stop infiltration bid from across the border. General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command, Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra, said that they have ensured Indian soldiers do not become a subject to Pakistan's brutality. Referring to beheading of two Indian Army soldiers by Pakistan Army regulars in Poonch district last January, Lt Gen Chachra said that they have ensured such bad actions do not take place again. Meanwhile, replying to a question if they were ready to tackle threat from terror organisations like al-Qaeda and the Taliban, Lt Gen Chachra said that the Army was prepared for it.

Deal with Russia over new unit of Kudankulam nuclear plant underway: V Narayanasamy

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): India said deal with Russia over the new unit of nuclear power plant in Kudankulam was underway. Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V Narayanasamy said that talks for a forthcoming project, which was scheduled to be started in October this year, with Russia were in progress. Khaleda Zia dubs new government in Bangladesh as unconstitutional, urges for talks

Dhaka, Jan 16 (ANI): Bangladesh's opposition leader, Khaleda Zia, urged the ruling Awami League party to renew talks for forming a democratic government, dubbing the present government as 'unconstitutional'. Bangladesh's new government was sworn in on January 12, a week after the ruling party won a violence-plagued election that the opposition boycotted and amid growing international calls for fresh and inclusive polls. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League ended with more than two-thirds of seats in a contest that was shunned by international observers, terming them as flawed and derided as a farce by the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). BNP leader and Hasina's bitter rival, Khaleda Zia, said the new government was not legitimate and unconstitutional, devoid of the representation of the people. Khaleda Zia also urged the ruling party to initiate talks for setting up a fair and democratic government in the country.

Operation Bluestar in-charge Army General trashes reports of British collusion in 1984 golden temple

Mumbai, Jan 16 (ANI): Former Lieutenant General Kuldeep Singh Brar, who led the Operation Bluestar in 1984, dismissed allegations that former Britain Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's Government may have allegedly helped Indira Gandhi plan the attack on Golden Temple, and said that there was no foreign interference or collusion in the raid. Rejecting any possibility of any foreign linkage to the attack, Brar, said that it was an 'unbelievable' allegation. He also said that the attack was entirely planned and executed by the Indian army alone.
