Urs of Sufi Saint Baji Ismail draws devotees of different faiths

Jammu & Kashmir, Feb 03 (ANI): Sufism in India has served to promote a common way of understanding the world. People from different faiths across the country congregate at Sufi shrines to pay their respects. One such place is the mausoleum of Sufi Saint Baji Ismail in Rajouri district that attracts Hindu and Muslim devotees. Every year thousands of people visit the shrine. It is believed that taking a bath from the tap near the shrine cures skin diseases. Though devotees throng the shrine throughout the year, the Urs or the death anniversary of the saint attracts a large number of people. The urs of the Sufi saint is celebrated for over eight days.

Italy says determined to press for speedy trial of marines

New Delhi, Feb 03 (ANI): Special envoy of Italian government, Staffan De Mistura said on Monday that his government was hoping for speedy resolution of the diplomatic row involving two of its marines charged with the murder of Indian fishermen, an incident that has soured relations between New Delhi and Rome. The Supreme Court has asked the central government to make its stand clear by February 10 on invoking anti-piracy law against the two Italian marines. Urging India to end the logjam, Mistura also said that the Supreme Court should make its stand clear by February 10. Mistura said Italy would decide on a counter move after hearing court’s view in the case.

Mass graves in Balochistan raise concerns about human rights violations

Karachi / Khuzdar, Feb 03: These female members of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) held a protest rally in Karachi to condemn the discovery of three mass graves in Khuzdar district of Balochistan on January 25. Human rights groups have expressed "shock and deep concern" over the recovery of over 150 bodies, believed to be the corpses of the missing Baloch, who were arrested and later unlawfully killed by Pakistani security agencies. The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has the details of 8,000 people who have disappeared over the past ten years, and haven't been seen since. The "pick, kill and dump" policy of Pakistan's intelligence agencies raises serious concerns about the violation of human rights in Balochistan.
