Kejriwal hints at quitting says, it is our last session

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): The Delhi Assembly Speaker M.S. Dhir on Friday announced that the Jan Lokpal Bill has not been introduced in the House. Speaking on the same, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that he is ready to quit, and added that this could be his last session in the assembly. He added that he can even give his life for the country and people, the post of CM is no big deal. Kejriwal also said it has been alleged that the government needs to take permission from the Central government to introduce the Jan Lokpal Bill. He also added that the Constitution does not say this.

Kejriwal tables Jan Lokpal Bill in Delhi Assembly amid protests

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Arvind Kejriwal on Friday tabled his anti-corruption Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi assembly, defying a warning by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung that the bill cannot be tabled without his consent. As Kejriwal introduced the Jan Lokpal Bill, both Congress and BJP MLAs jumped into the well and said it is unconstitutional on part of the speaker to allow tabling of the bill. MLAs surround the speaker and heckled him following which the house was adjourned for 30 minutes.

It happens: Elephant Festival

Kerala, Feb 14 (ANI): Devotees thronged the ten-day long famed temple festival, 'Attukal Pongala', to seek blessings of Hindu goddess, 'Attukal Devi', and to see majestic elephants decorated with ornaments for a procession in Thiruvananthapuram city of India's God's own country, southern Kerala province. The festival witnessed 11 richly caparisoned elephants, decorated with gold ornaments, and divided into two groups in the Attukal temple premises, amid drumbeats and frenzied shouts of devotees. Elephants form a major part of religious festivals in Kerala. In this annual festival, women from all walks of life, gather at the temple and perform a ritual of offering rice cooked in earthen pots to seek the blessings of the goddess. This festival of 'Attukal Pongala' has got a listing in the coveted Guinness Book of World Records for the record turnout of women devotees at a single place of worship.

Siliguri, Feb 14 (ANI): A variety of beauties that bloomed in all their splendour and fragrance at the flower show in Siliguri city of India's eastern West Bengal left visitors spellbound. There are atleast 90 stalls showcasing a vast variety of flowers from different parts of the province and also from the country's northeast region. They range from special orchids of Sikkim to the Cactii of Kalimpong,to name a few. Gerbera, seasonal flowers and different coloured roses also seemed to be attracting the visitors' attention.The programme is in its 29th edition this year. It is being organised by the Siliguri Horticulture Society and the provincial government. This fair is held every year and attracts a large number of visitors.

Eco friendly jute dolls, fancy bags, shopping bags, gift items, wall hangings, home textiles, floor coverings are some of the products displayed at the fair.Nearly 20 stalls are participating in the fair from all over. Several lifestyle jute products such as handicraft and handloom materials, dolls, fancy jute bags, shopping bags, gift articles, wall hangings, footwear, floor coverings and artificial jewelleries are on the display cum sale. The fair is organised as part of the National Jute Board's (NJB) promotional activity and to create awareness among the general public regarding eco-friendly alternative products for use in home and offices.

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): The Delhi Assembly on Friday once again witnessed turmoil over Jan Lokpal Bill.The Congress, BJP disrupted proceedings of the house. The Congress accused the Delhi government of not being serious about the bill. BJP demanded disclosure of L-G's letter to the house and said that there will be no discussion on the Bill if L-G's letter says so. BJP also said that it supports the Jan Lokpal Bill, but hasn't received any copy of the bill.
