Devout Hindus celebrate Mahashivratri across India with fervour

Uttar Pradesh/ Madhya Pradesh, Feb 27 (ANI): Devout Hindus revelled in the festive spirit as thousands of them thronged temples and congregated at the banks of holy rivers across India on Thursday to celebrate festival of Mahashivratri, also known as Lord Shiva's wedding anniversary, with religious fervour. The pilgrims and devout Hindus chanted holy words as they took holy bathe in the sacred Triveni Sangam, in Allahabad city of Uttar Pradesh. The magnificently decorated temples in the holy town of Ayodhya also witnessed crowd of devotees. The Mahakaleshwar Temple of Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh immersed into devotional spirit of prayer and worship on the occasion. Feb 27, 2014

The court court issued a notice to Tamil Nadu government and the four prisoners on the Centre's plea against their release. Earlier, an apex court bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam directed that the central government's plea would be heard on March 6. Ganderbal, Feb 27 (ANI): An army jawan of 13 Rashtriya Rifles shot dead five of his colleagues at point blank range when they were sleeping and killed himself in Kashmir's Ganderbal district Thursday morning, said army official. The deaths of the jawans took place inside the army camp of 13 Rashtriya Rifles at Safapora. An army court of inquiry will investigate the deaths.
