BJP protests against denial of special status to Bihar

Patna, Feb 28 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday staged a protest against denial of special status to Bihar. BJP supporters staged, 'rail roko' in Patna and condemned discriminatory approach towards the demand of special status by residents of Bihar. Earlier, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had urged people not to travel by trains during the stir. Another BJP leader, Nitin Patnaik, along with other protesters said that this protest is also to warn chief minister Nitish Kumar who is not taking the demand seriously.

Politicos react as LJP-BJP re-unite

New Delhi/ Patna, Feb 28 (ANI): LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday formally announced his return to the NDA fold, announcing to contest the next Lok Sabha election with the BJP-led alliance. Speaking on the same, RJD leader Manoj Jha said that those who had faith in Ram Vilas feels cheated today and this is one of the biggest blunders in the career of LJP chief. Further, JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar said that now that Ram Vilas has taken a U turn, it shows that he never had any principles. Defamation case: Delhi court summons Kejriwal

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was on Friday summoned as an accused by a Delhi court in a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. Metropolitan Magistrate Gomati Manocha issued summons for 7 April. Gadkari, in his defamation plea, alleged that Kejriwal tarnished his image by calling him 'corrupt'.

Officers knew INS Sindhuratna was defective: Brother of a victim

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Two naval officers, who had gone missing after an accident on board submarine INS Sindhuratna, have been found dead. Seven crew members out of more than 60 aboard the diesel-powered vessel were airlifted to a naval hospital after inhaling smoke, but the two officers - Lieutenant Commander Kapish Muwal and Lieutenant Commander Manoranjan Kumar - could not be found. The two officers who went missing were on duty on board when smoke filled parts of a Russian-built submarine on a training exercise off the Mumbai coast in the early hours of February 26 morning. Brother of Lieutenant Commander Kapish Muwal, Aashish said the incident is due to negligence as everyone knew about the defects in the submarine and it proved to be fatal.

Iran's foreign minister blames US for thwarting its nuclear programme based on 'illusions'

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is on a two-day visit to India, accused US of intimidating and using pressure to thwart Tehran's peaceful nuclear programme which western countries have long suspected a 'facade' of covertly researching the means to develop nuclear weapons.Tehran denies that its nuclear programme has any latent military purposes and has signalled repeatedly it would resist dismantling its nuclear installations as part of any deal. Zarif, who was addressing a memorial lecture in New Delhi on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Salman Khurshid, lashed out at the foreign policy of the United States of using 'force' and said it will never work against any state, citing examples of Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Zarif added that it would be difficult for the US and western forces to win back the trust of the Iranian public.
