PM Modi addresses Naval officers onboard INS Vikramaditya

INS Vikramaditya, June 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inspired the naval officers onboard INS Vikramaditya, the largest warship dedicated to India. Modi appreciated and praised the defence forces for being the protectors of the nation and ensuring peace and safety throughout the country. India to review Company Act to ease business

Chennai, June 14 (ANI): Indian government will be reviewing the Company Act to ease business in the country as told by MoS of Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday. Sitharaman, who has independent charge of the ministry, said the government would consult all the stake holders on June 21, to remove the bottlenecks to facilitate investment and jobs creation. Experts in India endorse Modi's Bhutan visit

New Delhi, June 14 (ANI): Experts opined on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first foreign visit to Bhutan is a sign that he wants to strengthen relationships with its neighbouring countries. Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval and senior officials would also accompany the Prime Minister for the visit on June 15 and 16. Senior Journalist and BJP leader M.J. Akbar, views this step as a sign of a very clear foreign policy. Senior journalist and political analyst, Neerja Chaudhary, welcomed Modi's visit as a move that shows his seriousness in improving relations with India's neighbours.

Bangladesh clash kills at least nine people

Bangladesh, June 14 (ANI): At least nine people were killed in a clash between two groups in Mirpur, on the outskirts of Bangladesh capital Dhaka, on Saturday. The clash erupted just after the Fazr (Morning Prayer) prayers at Kalshi Nera camp near Dhaka due to a dispute over the use of fire-crackers on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat (Religious Festival), which are prohibited. Thousands of Urdu-speaking Muslims, who live in the camp and prefer to call themselves 'stranded Pakistanis' and want to go to Pakistan, said that the miscreants attacked the camp and set their houses on fire.

700 cadets pass out from Indian Military Academy

Dehradun, June 14 (ANI): A total of 700 cadets passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday of which 636 joined the Indian Army while the remaining were foreign cadets. The foreign cadets are from Bhutan, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan. After the passing out parade, the 636 cadets got their lieutenant's pips. The maximum number of new officers belong to Uttar Pradesh (121) followed by Haryana (62) and Uttarakhand (57). Nepal army Chief Gen Gaurav Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana was present at the passing out parade.

Malaria outbreak in Tripura claims 20 lives, over 300 tribals critically ill

Tripura, June 14 (ANI): Malaria outbreak took a heavy toll in Tripura with reports of at least 20 tribals succumbing to the disease and over 300 critically ill with high fever. Over the past few days, several cases of malaria have been reported from the Dhalai district, one of the country's most backward districts. Tripura's Health Minister, Badal Choudhury, said that four medical teams have been sent to the tribal dominated areas and assured immediate steps to tackle the situation. The majority of the patients include children and youth. The local leaders and residents slammed the state government and the administration for lack of measures to curb the spread of the disease. Reportedly, a helicopter was kept in readiness for rushing medical teams and ferrying patients and five temporary medical camps are also functioning in the affected areas to treat those down with malaria and take preventive measures.

Search operation in Mandi gets strict, authorities to dry up Beas

Mandi, June 14 (ANI): Search operation to recover the bodies of students from Hyderabad who were washed away in Beas river is still underway. Civil authorities have given directions to stop water flow from Laarji Dam and forces are concentrating on a patch of a few kilometers. The SSB Commandant Shiv Ram said that forces have recovered a jacket and wallet of student along with some identity cards. He added that the forces are hopeful to find something by the end of the day. No more bodies have been recovered since the eight bodies that were traced till June 12.

Mumbai continues to suffer from water logging due to high tide

Trivandrum/ Mumbai, June 14 (ANI): Mumbai city of Maharashtra continues to suffer from the problem of water logging due to high tidal waves that hit the shore on June 13. People in Mumbai are suffering from water logging as well as traffic jams which came as after effects of high tide. At some places, shanties were washed away and cars stood half-submerged in water. Several tiles along Marine Drive were damaged. The workers of BMC are trying hard to clear roads so as to ease traffic flow for the residents.
