Bollywood actors lend support to short film festival aimed at creative filmmaking

Mumbai, Aug 14 (ANI): Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and actress Alia Bhatt attended a short film festival 'Shuruaat ka Interval' in entertainment capital Mumbai. An anthology of short films called 'Shuruaat ka Interval' features eight shorts from various filmmakers who have been chosen and mentored by filmmakers Imtiaz Ali, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anand Gandhi. During the inauguration event, Kapoor said the Indian film fraternity should encourage such short films as it gives fresh talent a chance to grow big. All the short films are based on one theme – interval – which has been interpreted and presented in a different way by each filmmaker. Aug 14, 2014

Bridge collapse kills three in Himachal Pradesh

Hamirpur, Aug 14 (ANI): Three people were killed on Thursday after a bridge collapsed in Jahu area of Hamirpur disrict in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall. Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhoranj Balwan Chand said rescue teams were working and one body was pulled out from the river. The Disaster Response Force teams reached the accident site and began relief work. Search for more bodies is underway. Aug 14, 2014

VHP protest outside Pakistan embassy over hardships faced by Hindus in Pak

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday staged a protest outside Pakistan embassy in New Delhi against the hardships faced by the Hindu community in the neighbouring country. Leaders of VHP claimed that Hindu community living in Pakistan was being treated inhumanly and demanded protection of human rights violations. Protesters shouted anti-Pakistan slogans and demanded justice for the Hindus living there. Protesters were accompanied by the Hindus who have fled from Pakistan after facing the torture from the natives there. Dhaka, Aug 14 (ANI): Bangladesh academician, Syed Anwar Husain remembered founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, for his significant contribution in the country’s fight for an independent state, as the nation mourns his assassination during an army coup in 1975. Mujibur, or Mujib as he was popularly called, was killed along with most of his family members in a 1975 revolt by young army officers. One of his two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the country's prime minister. The city streets are full of posters and banners bearing Rahman’s photographs. New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday adjourned the case of e-rickshaw till Aug 20 which was to be heard today. Lawyer RK Kapoor said that the case was adjourned observing the absence of a judge who was present during the previous hearings of the case.
