New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday briefed about the Ministry's achievement in past 100 days of government. Singh said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed worst flooding in the last many years and said that more than 1 lakh 30 thousand people have been rescued till now. He further lauded the defense and NDRF personnel for their rescue efforts in the flood-hit state. He also laid stress upon women security in police stations and said that more women shall be deployed as officers. He also said that Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has been asked by the ministry for some land in order to rehabilitate the Kashmiri migrants. Sep 12, 2014

Police recover arms and ammunition from Maoist camp in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 12 (ANI): In a combing operation, police and district forces busted a Maoist camp in Gajapati district of Odisha and seized arms and ammunition. The combing operation was conducted in Barimunda jungle, where exchange of fire also took place between the police and rebels. Superintendent of Police, Satyajit Nayak, who led the operation, suspected that a temporary camp was functioning in the area. A police official sustained minor injury during the encounter. Around four Maoists were present and managed to escape after the gun battle. The Maoists control large but poor areas of the region and often attack railway lines and mining operations to cripple economic activity, such as the transportation of coal to power and steel companies. EC orders FIR against Yogi Adityanath for hate speech, Politicos react

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Reactions poured in as Election Commission ordered the chief election officer of Uttar Pradesh to file an FIR against BJP leader Yogi Adityanath for his alleged hate speech while campaigning for UP by polls. NCP leader Majid Memon said that anybody who commits breach of order has to face legal action. NCP leader Tariq Anwar, condemning Yogi Adityanath for his hate speech, said that EC should take this issue seriously. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the party will reply to the EC's notice and further slammed the UP government for its cheap politics. Sep 12, 2014

UNICEF report says 49% of girls in India sexually abused, Politicos react

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Reactions flowed in as UNICEF report said that 49% of girls in India under the age of 19 are sexually abused. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that until we don't give respect to women in our country, development is not possible. NCP leaders Tariq Anwar and Majid Memon said that the issue needs to be taken in cognizance by all concerns and we must act so that such things don't take place again. However, NCP leader Naresh Agarwal said that UNICEF should also come out with reports of other countries and not only talk of India. Ranjit Sinha submits affidavit in 2G case trial to SC

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): CBI director Ranjit Sinha on Friday filed his affidavit in the Supreme Court in respect of the accusations against him over the controversial visitors' logbook at his Delhi residence. Sinha's lawyer Vikas Singh said that he has placed the affidavit in a sealed cover before a bench led by Justice HL Dattu. The matter will be heard by the court on Monday next. It had earlier asked Sinha to reply to the plea moved for removing him from the 2G probe. Singh also alleged that the entire application filed by Prashant Bhushan is completely malicious and false. New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday react as Former CAG Vinod Rai alleged that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could have easily prevented 2G scam, coal blocks allocation scam and the Commonwealth Games scam, had he used his stamp of authority. BJP leader Sambit Patra supported Rai and said that Manmohan Singh could not do anything as he was a puppet in the hands of 'unnamed puppeteers'. Congress leader PC Chacko said that the former PM had no knowledge of the irregularities then and that Rai should think before pointing at one of the most honest man in India. NCP leader Majid Memon questioned on the timing of Rai's revelations. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said that Vinod Rai is talking like a politician and that there seems an involvement of his vested interest in the same. Paid news case: Writ petition by Ashok Chavan allowed

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): The writ petition by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in paid news case has been allowed by Delhi High Court on Friday. The complainant's lawyer said that the Court has allowed Chavan's petition and added that being the complainant they want to see the directions and conditions given by him to the Court under which his petition has been allowed. Nithari Case: SC stays Surinder Koli's execution till October 29

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): In a breakthrough in the Nithari murder case, the Supreme Court has stayed the execution of main accused Surinder Koli on Friday. The lawyer said that the Court has given the next date of hearing as October 28 and execution has been stayed till October 29 on grounds of unavailability of documents. Koli was convicted of cannibalism and unnatural sex with children in the henious Nithari murder case. He had confessed of having sex with his dead victims and also eating some of their body parts.
