Clean India campaign: Modi ropes in 9 people including Salman, Sachin, Ramdev

New Delhi, Oct 1 (ANI): While launching the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invited nine people on the social media to join him in the movement. Modi said that he has invited Governor Mridula Sinha, Actor Priyanka Chopra, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, Actor Salman Khan, Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani, Actor Kamal Haasan, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and the team of TV soap opera Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma to come to the public places and work towards a Clean India. Modi said that he has even requested each one of them to draw nine more into the initiative to take it viral.

PM Modi administers 'Clean India' pledge

New Delhi, Oct 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday administered 'Clean India' pledge along with Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, actor Aamir Khan and 30 lakh government employees. The employees along with the PM pledged to do their bit towards cleanliness and not to litter or let anyone litter around. They also pledged to spend 100 hours every year towards cleanliness.

Swachh Bharat Campaign: PM Modi flags off walkathon from Rajpath

New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): As a part of the Swachh Bharat Campaign, a walkathon was flagged off by Prime Minster Narendra Modi from Rajpath, in New Delhi on Thursday. Afterwards, PM Modi and other participants of the walkathon walked towards the Vayu Bhavan. Earlier today the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajpath. Prime Minister Modi today also visited Valmiki Basti where he wielded the broom and interacted with the 'Safai Karamcharis' present there. Cleanliness drive is on in Delhi and other parts of the country. Lakhs of Central government employees working across the country will take a pledge of cleanliness in various public functions being organized today.

Police arrest three hardcore Maoists in red corridor of Jharkhand

Bokaro, Oct 2 (ANI): Police arrested three hardcore Maoists in red corridor of Jharkhand. Arrested Maoists were spreading terror and extorting money in Bokaro region of the state. Swachh Bharat Campaign: PM Modi wields broom at Valmiki Basti

New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi symbolically wielded a broom at Valmiki Basti on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and reached out to all Indians to make cleanliness a mass movement. He cleared litter at the Basti and interacted with 'Safai Karamcharis'. Modi chose the Valmiki colony in Delhi's heart a place once home to Mahatma Gandhi -- to do the sweeping, in the company of party colleagues and officials. Modi has said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan should clean up the country by 2019, the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Swedish soccer legend Ljungberg hopes to inspire youth in ISL

Tourism sector foresee boost as PM announces visa on arrival for American tourists

Jaipur, Oct 02 (ANI): Tour operators in Rajasthan were elated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced visa on arrival for American tourists, during his five-day US trip. Tour guides and operators expect that this move would give a fillip to tourism industry in the state. During his US trip, which started from New York, Modi drew an especially loud cheer when he made a long-awaited announcement that those holding cards showing they were of Indian origin would be granted lifetime visas to India. He also said that India would allow visas on arrival for US citizens, while addressing a crowd of 18,000 people at New York's Madison Square Garden. Rajasthan hosts maximum number of tourists from France and after Modi’s announcement, it is being assumed that state could witness very high footfall of US citizens and PIO card holders as well.
