Tharoor still enjoys high level of confidence amongst Congress people: Digvijay Singh

Bangalore, Oct 16 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said on Thursday that party leader Shashi Tharoor who was recently sacked from the post of All India Congress Committee spokesperson, still enjoys a high level of confidence amongst its members. On Tuesday, the Congress Party had relieved Shashi Tharoor from his duties as the party spokesperson, following the complaint of Congress' Kerala unit against Tharoor's conduct and behaviour to the party high command. The KPCC had also spoken out against Tharoor after he had accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to join the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' on October 2. Tharoor had accepted the Prime Minister's invitation, saying that he was honoured to accept the invitation to join the campaign.

Politicos condemn blast in Malda district of West Bengal

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday condemned crude bomb blast in Malda district of West Bengal where at least 3 people were injured. State Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the state has become a hub of terrorists as a result of deteriorating law and order situation. Congress leader Rashid Alvi and the NCP maintained that a probe was necessary to find out the elements responsible for the bomb blast in Malda. No one can threaten India: Rajnath on China's objection to Arunachal road

China objected to reported plans by India to build a 2,000-km long road along the border in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Secretaries, DGPs will be answerable for missing children: SC

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): Expressing deep concern over the increasing number of missing children, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that Chief Secretaries, DGPs of states will be answerable for missing children. The Apex Court said that it will periodically summon chief secretaries and DGPs of those states from where a large number of children go missing regularly. As a first step, it summoned the chief secretaries and DGPs of Bihar and Chattisgarh and asked them to be present in court on October 30. The SC passed this order on a petition filed by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyathi's NGO Bachapan Bachao Andolan.

India successfully launches third navigation satellite

Sriharikota, Oct 16 (ANI): India witnessed the successful launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C26) carrying the IRNSS-1C (Indian Navigation Satellite System) satellite, the third in a series of seven planned satellite launches from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (October 16). The IRNSS-1C, is the third of the seven navigation satellites to put in place India's own navigation satellite system and has wide-ranging applications in terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation. Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), K Radhakrishnan said that the injection of PSLV-C26 was very accurate. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Doctor Jitendra Singh said that he could see India realizing its dream of 'Make in India' through space technology.

UK culture secretary announces funds to boost ties with India
