Shiv Sena threatens to sit in opposition if BJP seeks NCPs support directly or indirectly, Politico

New Delhi. Nov 10 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after Shiv Sena declared that it would sit in opposition in the Maharashtra assembly if the BJP takes direct or indirect support from the NCP to prove its majority in the house. BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao said that Shiv Sena should talk to party leaders and solve the issue. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the issue should have been settled by both the parties before the oath taking ceremony. Congress leader Rashid Alvi slammed Shiv Sena saying that it is desperate to form alliance with BJP in Maharashtra. NCP leader Majid Memon also expressed similar sentiments.

Sensex and Nifty hits record high as "India becomes attractive destination for international market"

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): The SandP BSE Sensex and the Nifty rallied over 100 points in trade on Monday, led by gains in ITC, HDFC, Sun Pharma, Axis BankBSE -0.90 % and Dr Reddy's Laboratories. However, it failed to maintain this level and declined afterwards to 27,818.23, showing a loss of 55.36 points or 0.2 per cent at 27,813.27 at 11.31 a.m. local time. Market Expert Akash Jindal said that sensex may cross 30,000 level as India is being seen as an attractive destination by the international investors. He said that India is more attractive for international investors than Brazil, Russia and China or other emerging market. Further, talking about the gold prices, Jindal said that gold prices are expected to come down to Rs. 22,000 as people are now not interested in gold.

Tribal community hold fashion show in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Nov 10 (ANI): The tribal community of Maoist affected Jharkhand came alive with a fashion show during their annual Sohrai festival. Tribals celebrated the annual festival with much fanfare in a village near Jamshedpur city which included a fashion show attracting most of the tribal youths. Sonamoni Tudu, crowned Miss Adivasi (Tribal) said that the fashion show gave much boost to the confidence of their women and encouraged them to prove their mettle. The Sohrai festival, a popular tribal festival of Jharkhand, is associated with cattle and coincides with Diwali. Cattle and other livestock are washed and worshipped and bullfights are staged in various parts of the state for peoples' entertainment. Meanwhile, Sadanand Murmu who bagged the title of Mr Adivasi (Tribal) expressed joy over winning the trophy in the event.

Modi's newly elected Cabinet portfolios announced

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted four cabinet ministers, three Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 14 Ministers of State in his first cabinet expansion on Sunday and the portfolios were decided later. Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is the new Defence Minister and Suresh Prabhu will now head the Railway Ministry, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government carried out the first cabinet expansion on Sunday. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who earlier held the Defence portfolio as an additional charge has now been given the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's additional charge. JP Nadda, who also took oath as a Cabinet minister on Sunday, gets the portfolio of Health and Family Welfare, which was earlier held by Dr Harsh Vardhan. Harsh Vardhan has been shifted to the Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Ministry which has been stripped off from Jitendra Singh, who has got Independent charge of Development of North Eastern Region.

Police arrest three accused in Australian woman murder case in Andhra Pradesh

Puttaparthi, Nov 10 (ANI): Police arrested three accused for allegedly killing an Australian woman on the outskirts of pilgrim town Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, said a senior officer. Superintendent of Police, Sriniwas Lu said Toni Anne Ludgate was murdered by the watchman of an apartment where she was staying. Ludgate was murdered by the security guard of her apartment complex with the help of two accomplices on August 28 as the guard was unable to return the rupees 20,000 he owed her. Earlier, police exhumed body of Ludgate, who went missing over two months ago.

India postpones day tourism at Wagah border in view of blast on Pakistani side

Amritsar, Nov 10 (ANI): India's Border Security Force postponed the Day Tourism at Wagah border in Punjab which was scheduled to kick off from November 10, after a suicide bomb attack killed scores of people on the Pakistani side last Sunday. At least 60 people were killed and 110 wounded when the explosion ripped through a car park about 500 metres (yards) from Pakistan's border gate just as hundreds of people left the daily performance. The plan for Day tourism was for tourists who reach early at the Wagah border and the security forces were to give them a tour of the area since the main ceremony is held in the evening. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), MF Farooqui said that the new activity would need elaborate security for the crowd that was expected to turn up for the day tourism.
