New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka obtained a copy of the judgment that gave death sentence to five fishermen, said foreign ministry spokesperson in New Delhi. The court has convicted five Indian fishermen on the charge of drug trafficking. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the embassy had approached best legal brains in Sri Lanka to appeal against the verdict. However, Akbaruddin refused to comment on the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s statement over the transfer of five fishermen to an Indian jail under a bilateral agreement. Earlier on Monday, Swamy had said the deadlock was broken after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the issue.
