Irfan Pathan remembers Phillip Hughes

Mumbai, Nov 30 (ANI): Indian cricketer and fast bowler Irfan Pathan remembered Phillip Hughes who died after being struck on the head by a bouncer while playing a domestic match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Hughes died in hospital in Sydney on Thursday, two days after he was struck on the head, casting a pall over a cricket-mad nation which is co-hosting the World Cup early next year. Pathan said that the cricketing world had lost a great talent. Pathan recalled the incident when his bouncer had hit Zimbabwe batsman MA Vermeulen back in 2004. Cricket balls are roughly the same shape and size of a baseball but harder and heavier. Fast bowlers regularly bowl at speeds of 140kph and short-pitched balls, known as 'bouncers', are often used as a tactic to intimidate batsmen. The event is likely to bring the peace building process back on track. With an aim to bolster the bilateral ties and restart the peace building measures, which were derailed by the recent skirmishes along the international border, the event brings together cultural artists of both nuclear-armed neighbours with a positive note. The festival is being organised by centre for preservation and promotion of heritage Punarjyot in collaboration with its Lahore-based counterpart Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW). Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil who was present at the festival, said peace will come not with fights but maturity. The court ruled the party could hold its rally and named two special officers to ensure the BJP complies with the rules.
