Bombay HC stays Maharashtra Govt's decision to give reservation to Marathas, politicos react

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Nov 14 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday reacted over the reservation for Marathas, Muslims in Maharashtra issue. The Bombay High Court today stayed the decision of former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan-led government's decision to give 16 percent reservation to Marathas in government jobs and educational institutions. The Congress-NCP government had made an announcement in this regard four months ahead of the assembly polls. According to reports, the high court has also stayed the state government's decision to provide five percent reservation to Muslims in public service, but allowed them reservation in educational institutions. He added that after the request of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, a team of AIIMS doctors was sent to Chhattisgarh to examine the patients. He further assured that the centre will provide all the required assistance to the Chhattisgarh government. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visits shipyard in Goa

Goa, Nov 14 (ANI): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visited a shipyard in coastal state of Goa to check the defence preparedness of the yard on Friday. Parrikar, resigned as Goa chief minister last week to take up the new post as defence minister. According to reports, he flew economy class on a budget airline to his home state Goa. Meanwhile, he said he wanted to see how the shipyard is functioning. DERC withdraws power tariff hike in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 14 (ANI): The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission withdrew the power tariff hike of up to seven per cent on Friday, which was announced by DERC on Thursday. AAP leader Ashutosh said that the decision of power tariff hike was taken under the pressure of Power companies. He added that the government has withdrawn the order after seeing the public reaction. Medical Negligence: UP doctor conducts 42 sterilization operations in two hours

Kushinagar, Nov 14 (ANI): In yet another medical negligence by Uttar Pradesh health department, 42 sterilization operations were conducted in a government owned Primary Health Center in Nebua Naurangia village in Kushinagar, in a record two hours. Not taking any lesson from the recent similar incident in Bilaspur where at least 13 women died post sterilization operation, this hospital carried out the operations amidst gross negligence and un-hygienic environment where post surgery operated women were dumped on the ground, as no beds were available for them. However, Dr Harish Kumar Gautam said that the conditions were hygienic and that patients were provided with mattresses and sheets. According to the report, women started gathering at the PHC since morning but the surgeon came at 3:30 PM and within two hour he conducted 42 operations. Nov 14, 2014
