EC briefs about voter turnout in third phase of elections in J and K and Jharkhand

New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): The Election Commission of India on Tuesday briefed about voter turnout in third phase of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand saying polls were conducted peacefully in all constituencies. Deputy Election Commissioner for J and K, Vinod Zutshi said that voter turnout in the state for this phase was 58%. Meanwhile, Deputy Election Commissioner for Jharkhand, Umesh Sinha said that voter turnout in Jharkhand was recorded at 61%. Dec 9, 2014

15 undertrial prisoners try to escape while being escorted to jail in Chaibasa, 2 killed in police f

Ranchi, Dec 9 (ANI): Two undertrial prisoners have been killed in police firing on Tuesday when more than 15 undertrails tried to escape from the police van while they were being taken back from court to jail in Jharkhand's Chaibasa. The incident took place around 4pm. Over 15 prisoners including some hardcore Maoists have escaped from the jail.
