One NDFB(S) militant arrested by Bengaluru police, interrogation underway: MN Reddi

Bengaluru, Jan 27 (ANI): The police in Bengaluru arrested another wanted militant belonging to the notorious tribal militant outfit, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). The ultra has been identified as Sanju Bordoloi alias Shibigiri. NDFB is a militant group which has been fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos in Assam. Bengaluru Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that Bordoloi was nabbed following specific tip-off. Reddi further said that Bordoloi was being questioned about his associates - if any- in the city. He is wanted in two cases by the Assam police and in a case by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Bordoloi fled Assam after coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families in the last week of December 2014. At least 80 people were killed in the massacre. New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday held a road show in the South Delhi's Kalkaji Assembly constituency, as the campaigning for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections gathered momentum. Gandhi was seen accompanied by Congress unit of Delhi President Arvinder Singh Lovely, former MP Ramesh Kumar, Kalkaji candidate Subhash Chopra and nominees of a few other constituencies. The roadshow began from Transit Camp in Kalkaji Assembly constituency. Delhi assembly polls will witness a direct fight between BJP and AAP after the Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, recorded its worst performance bagging only eight seats in the last Delhi elections. Chennai, Jan 27 (ANI): Congress leader and son of former union minister P Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram, on Tuesday refuted the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee's (TNCC) charge that he had made remarks against the party and its high command, and said that whatever he had said was totally in sync with Congress principles. He was reacting to the showcause notice sent by TNCC President E V K S Elangovan asking him to explain why he should not be expelled from the party. The TNCC had issued a show-cause notice to Karti on Friday, asking why he should not be expelled for his anti-party remarks at a meeting with his supporters in Chennai where, he had reportedly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "political acumen". Indian Army organises blood camp in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 27 (ANI): In a bid to reach out to locals in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian army on Tuesday organised a blood donation camp in the militancy-hit Srinagar district. This is the seventh blood donation camp organised by the army to help residents of Srinagar and nearby areas, affected by the devastating floods in September last year. While many of the soldiers donated blood, health official Javed Iqbal said many civilians also came forward to participate in the initiative. Requirement of blood has always been high in the state due to militancy and insurgency activities. There has also been an acute shortage of blood especially after the devastating floods last year.
