Aligarh's Babu Khan builds a Shiva temple, presents perfect example of communal harmony

Aligarh, Dec 22 (ANI): Aligarh, located in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, is an educational and commercial hub of India. The people of the area, despite belonging to different religions, have always upheld national integration and communal harmony. One such example is of Shiva Temple in the city which has been built by a Muslim, Babu Khan. The temple besides helping the poor Hindu community, also aims at strengthening the Hindu-Muslim bond in the locality. Khan himself prays at the Temple as per Hindu practices and beliefs. Not only in construction of Temples, Khan also helps in fixing marriages and makes necessary arrangements for it. Hindus of the locality have developed a strong bond for Khan and hold him in high regard for his community services.

Devotees from different faiths throng at Urs of Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir, a land of peace and harmony, well known for the spiritual places is like an abode for the saints of India. Among those saints is Hazrat Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom of Srinagar, who earned high regards from his followers due to his teachings of unity. His followers belonging to different communities come together every year at his shrine to pay obeisance to the saint. The annual Urs of this famous saint is being observed according to the Islamic Calendar and is celebrated for 13 days. Devotees here come with utmost devotion and preach saint's teaching who believed in the message of brotherhood. Every day hundreds of devotees visit this famous shrine of the Kashmir valley and pray for peace and prosperity of the people and the state.

Delhi's Lt Gov Najeeb Jung appeals people to help homeless during winters

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday appealed Delhiites to help the city's homeless by giving them warm clothes and blankets during the harsh winters. Jung added that people should donate blankets, clothes etc, at the nearest night shelters only, and not on the streets or roads as this will motivate homeless people to use the shelters and not sleep in the open. The Delhi government has established 221 night shelters for homeless people with basic facilities such as clean drinking water, toilets, blankets, bedding etc.

No lines of communication open with BJP: Omar

Srinagar, Dec 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Monday said that no lines of communication are open between the National Conference and the BJP or any other national party. Addressing a press conference a day before counting of votes for the J and K assembly elections Omar also said that he had no regrets about National Conference's alliance with the Congress party.

Hundreds of students take part in Yogathon in Chennai

Chennai, Dec 22 (ANI): Hundreds of students took part in a "Yogathon" to create awareness about the ancient practice at an event in Chennai on Monday. Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's 'Art of Living Foundation' organized the event. Organizers said the event was being organized across the country, especially in schools and colleges, to create awareness among the people about the benefits of Yoga. Self-Reported Daily Exercise Lowers Blood Sugar Level In Body

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI) : A new study has recently revealed that self-reported daily exercise helps in reducing blood pressure and blood glucose levels.The study found that women who were consistently and even irregularly active had lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared with those who were completely inactive.The findings also showed that consistently and irregularly active male and female patients had fasting glucose levels lower than the consistently inactive patients. Consistently active and irregularly active women had a greater magnitude of difference for cardiometabolic variables compared with similarly active men.

Suspected Maoists attack forest office in Kerala

Palakkad, Dec 22 (ANI): Suspected Maoists attacked the office of forest department in Palakkad district of Kerala on Monday. The rebels vandalized the office and burnt an official vehicle. However, district collector K Ramachandran says it is yet to be established if Maoists are behind the incident. Meanwhile, Kerala police's wing for anti-Maoist operations called 'Thunderbolt' cordoned off the area and began combing operations in the nearby areas.

'Insomniac Adults' More Likely To Suffer Back Pain Later In Life

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI) : A new research has recently revealed that adults suffering from insomnia are almost one-and-a-half times more likely to suffer from back pain eventually.The study included that insomnia increases a person's sensitivity to pain and that those suffering from it were liable to suffer from spontaneous pain more often and with more intensity compared to others.According to the study, one possible link would be stress, as people suffering from insomnia generally describe their lives as stressful, so it's almost certain that they would suffer from chronic restlessness that would increase muscle tension and reduce the number of micro-pauses in muscle activity, which leads to back pain.
