Rail budget 2015-16 aims to better railway & not to appease other political parties: Suresh Prabhu 1

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said that Rail Budget 2015-2016 aims to better the railway system in the country and not to appease other political parties. He said that a strong and efficient railway can lead to growth of the nation and not vice versa. He said this while addressing mediapersons after presenting the budget in Parliament. Prabhu said that the budget has kept in mind various expectations of the common man and can be a termed as a common man budget. He also said that the NDA government being a government of farmers has special provisions for them too in the rail budget. The railway minister further said that the money for different projects mentioned in the budget will come from extra budgetary sources and that the government is talking to World Bank, Asian Development Bank, etc. over the same.

Rail Budget full of imaginary ideas: Congress

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Reacting on Rail Budget 2015, the Congress party said that Suresh Prabhu presented nothing new in the budget for Indian Railways in the Lok Sabha. Disappointed Congress said that no single announcement was made about new trains, and people were expecting reduction in rail fare. Terming it a dream budget Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Rail Budget 2015 is full of imaginary ideas and it is impossible to implement it practically.

Blast in Kashmir injures six

Shopian, Feb 26 (ANI): Six civilians sustained injuries in a grenade blast in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Among the six, one is critical. The blast occurred while civilians were cleaning debris near their houses in Shopian district after the gun battle between security forces and militants concluded on Wednesday. Security forces in the state gunned down three militants on Wednesday in the encounter, which injured two soldiers and one officer.

Foreign Rail Technology Cooperation Scheme to be launched Part - 2

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday said that Foreign Rail Technology Cooperation Scheme would be launched to help in technology upgradation. Presenting the Railway Budget for fiscal 2015-16 in Parliament, Prabhu stressed on the need to decentralise, deregulate and delegate to make freight business simpler. No new trains were, however, announced this year in the rail budget. There was no increase in railway passenger fares either. The Railways Minister further said that mobile phone charging facilities would be provided in general class coaches and the number of charging facilities would be increased in sleeper class coaches.

Former Railway Minister terms Rail Budget as 'disappointing'
