A class 12 student was allegedly stabbed to death by his classmates in a school in Jind, Haryana on Saturday (July 21).

The victim, who has been identified as 18-year-old Ankush, succumbed to his injuries at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on Sunday night (July 22). The victim was a student of Indus Public School in Pillu Khera town. The accused boys also reportedly attacked his friends.

On Saturday morning, Ankush and his classmates were seated in their classroom. The four boys, who had brought knives in their school bags, attacked the victim as soon as the teacher left the class. 

The group stabbed five students and thrashed them. They stopped after staff members rushed to the spot. The accused managed to flee, however, they threatened to return and 'finish them later', reported Hindustan Times.

Ankush suffered stab wounds to his stomach and back. One of his friends was also severely injured.

They were taken to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak. On Sunday, Ankush's family shifted him to the Medanta Hospital, where he passed away.

According to media reports. the students had fought on Friday, which might have been the reason for the murder.  A report in HT has said that the altercation took place over the boys 'talking to a girl' in the class.

It is not yet known whether the accused boys are 18 years of age or younger. A case has been registered under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 506 (criminal intimidation) and section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

Pillu Khera SHO Kishori Lal has said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
