Flourishing apple trade in Shimla town boosts business

Shimla, Oct 14 (ANI): Apple business is booming in northern hill town and famed tourist destination Shimla, registering an annual growth from 35 billion to 45 billion rupees, proving a boon for the economy. Apple farming, which is the biggest business of the state, is not only giving good business to its farmers and traders, but the state government is also launching different schemes and initiatives to help grow the trade. Different varieties of the fruit are being sold out in large quantities at the local markets in Narkanda, Shimla, Dhali, Solan and Parwanoo during the onset of winter. On an average, the farmers get 1,000 rupees for a box containing 20-25 kg of apple. But this year, farmers are getting between 1,000 to 2,200 rupees for the same box. Vice-chairman, Himachal Pradesh, Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Mohinder Satan, said that with each year passing, more are more farmers and traders are joining this business considering its profit. SINTEX and BF UTILITIES LTD were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 19.70% and 18.31% along with KAILASH and PAGE INDUSTRIES LTD with an increase of 7.73% and 7.66% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include All Prices in RASOYA PROTEINS LTD and AMTEK AUTO LTD with a decrease of 4.87% and 4.64% along with JETAIRWAYS and UNITECH with a decrease of 4.16% and 3.90% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 13.54 points at 17,334.88 while the banking sector is up 238.62 points at 17,932.85 and the reality sector is down 28.42 points at 1,563.66. Yashodhara Raje Scindia underscores skill development for youth at Global Investors Summit

Indore, Oct 09 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Commerce and Industry Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said at the Global Investors Summit that she will take steps for skill development of the youths and unemployed of the state so that they become self reliant. During a news conference at the Global Investors Summit, the minister said the regional government will ensure skill availability within the state. Barely weeks after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, launched his 'Make in India' initiative, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated a three-day Global Investors Summit on Wednesday, inviting business leaders from across the world to invest in the state. Scindia added that enhancing employment is one of the primary objectives of her government. She said she will also urge corporate houses to adopt industrial training institutes so that they can directly hire talent from there.
