Bhopal, Feb 12 (ANI): Congress party on Thursday staged a protest outside state Health Minister Narottam Mishra's residence over the spate in swine flu deaths in Madhya Pradesh. Almost 44 people have died in the state due to swine flu and 66 others have been tested positive for the deadly virus. Workers of the Congress party demanded Mishra's resignation, criticizing him for not taking control of the situation. The virus has killed 191 people in the country in January alone, with Telangana state being the worst hit. So far, 2,038 people have been afflicted by the virus in India. Rathore visited a hospital in Jaipur to see arrangements and facilities available for swine flu patients. Special wards and counters have been opened and a special team of doctors has been deputed in Jaipur to tackle swine flu cases. Visakhapatnam, Jan 30 (ANI): Two swine flu deaths and 24 positive cases were reported from Andhra Pradesh, the state administration informed. Provincial Minister for Information and Public Relations (I& PR) Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the government was monitoring the situation in port city Visakhapatnam. He added that government had taken various steps to check the spread of the virus and awareness campaign for the swine flu were increased. The minister said a state-level cabinet meeting of medical officials and doctors was held at King George Hospital of Visakhapatnam. Amritsar, Jan 28 (ANI): Swine flu claimed another life in Amritsar city of Punjab. The victim was a 50-year-old woman who succumbed to the deadly virus soon after she was brought to a government hospital for treatment. Victim's Son Surdeep Singh further claimed that after an hour of his mother's death the doctors told them the reports showed her positive for the deadly virus and the hospital did not have the requisite measures in place as claimed by the government. Aurangabad, Jan 22 (ANI): A 42-year-old man died of swine flu at a government hospital in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, doctors said on Thursday. The victim identified as Shabbir Hussain Mustafa was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday in a critical condition. His lungs were damaged and he was kept on ventilator. Dr Mangala Borkar, head of the medicine department, said he was administered Tamiflu but he did not respond to it. Jaipur, Jan 17 (ANI): Authorities in Rajasthan have been on alert after a spurt in swine flu cases. So far, seven people have died due to swine flu in the state this year. The administration has set up special counters in premier hospitals and deputed special teams of doctors to monitor the situation. Health officials said the virus had weakened in the past two-three years, but its re-emergence was a cause for alarm.
