Will leave if trust vote not in favour, says Manjhi

Patna/Kanpur, Feb 13 (ANI): Days after his party showed him the doors, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday said he will quit the CM's post if state Assembly voted against him. The regional Janata Dal United (JD-U) last week sacked Manjhi on charges of anti-party activities and named former chief minister Nitish Kumar as Manjhi's replacement. Kumar, along with party legislators who supported him, had met the President earlier this week to stake claim to form government after Bihar Governor, Keshari Nath Tripathi, did not take a call. Karnataka train derailment: PM Modi condoles loss of lives

New Delhi, Feb 13 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the loss of lives due to the derailing of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Inter City Express near Anekal in Karnataka this morning. "Saddened by the loss of lives due to derailing of Bangalore-Ernakulam Express. Condolences to the families of the deceased," Prime Minister said. "I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Railway Minister and officials are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring timely relief", ", the Prime Minister further said. The Indian Railways confirmed earlier in the day that ten persons had lost their lives and over 17 others were critically injured in the incident. SC stays arrest of activist accused of fudging funds for 2002 riots victims

New Delhi, Feb 13 (ANI): The Supreme Court of India on Friday (February 13) stayed the arrest of social activist in an alleged misappropriation of funds case till February 19. The court asked both Teesta and the Gujarat government to file relevant documents before it. The apex court ruling came after the Gujarat state High Court rejected Setalvad's anticipatory bail plea in the case. She is accused of embezzlement of funds collected on behalf of 2002 riot victims in Gujarat. In January 2014, police had registered a case against Setalvad, her husband Javed Anand and others for allegedly usurping rupees 15 million collected by them in form of donations for turning the colony into a riots museum. Sikh outfits protest against release of 'MSG' film

Jammu/Chandigarh/ New Delhi, Feb 13 (ANI): Activists of a regional outfit on Friday (February 13) staged protest against release of the film 'The Messenger of God' (MSG), portraying self-styled spiritual leader and chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Sikh United Front (JKSUF) shouted slogans against Singh and burnt posters of 'MSG' as the film hits the silver screen on Friday. The film, which features the self-styled spiritual leader in jewel-studded costume riding motorbikes, drew severe criticism in Punjab and led to violence in some parts. In view of the film's release, police in Chandigarh have beefed up security to avoid any untoward incident. UP professor's research on global warming included in US school syllabi

Gorakhpur, Feb 13 (ANI): Vice Chancellor of a university in Gorakhpur city of Uttar Pradesh has become the first person from the country to have his work on global warming included in the school syllabus in United States. An article by Vice Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Professor Onkar Singh, has been included in a textbook titled 'Can Glacier and Ice Melt Be Reversed?' for students from class 10 to 12. This feat has got him a place in the Limca Book of Records, a catalogue of achievements made by Indians, at home and abroad, in diverse fields of human endeavour. The book covers various articles that talk about reasons causing global warming and the possible solutions to it. Speaking about global warming, Singh warns that the world would have to face dire consequences if immediate steps are not taken in this concern.
