Dhaka, Jan 1 (ANI): Women supporters of Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League Party protested against the opposition leader, Begum Khalida Zia, saying that she triggers violence in the country. The irate protesters shouted slogans against Zia and burnt her effigy in Dhaka. A Member of Parliament from the ruling party, Sahida Tareq Dipti, said that the protest was organized to condemn Khalida Zia’s action in public. Violence has gripped the country as Hasina and her ruling Awami League pressed ahead with vote. India hopes for early resolution of legal tussle of GMR group with Maldivian government

New Delhi, Jan 1 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs has hoped for a resolution of issues between infrastructure firm, GMR and Maldivian government, with both at loggerheads over the Male airport issue. The new President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom would visit India from January 01 to 04. President Gayoom would be accompanied by a high level delegation. GMR, a subsidiary of Bangalore-based GMR Infrastructure limited has been given seven days to leave the Indian Ocean island chain. In 2012, Maldives cancelled its biggest foreign investment project, a $511 million deal with Indian firm GMR Group to develop its international airport, raising questions over the future of foreign investment in the islands renowned for luxury resorts.
