Youngsters in Manipur imparted training in Thang-ta and Folk dances

Imphal, May 17 (ANI): These young girls are getting training in Thangta and Manipuri folk dances at Keirao Bitra in Imphal East district. The one-month long workshop-cum-training program was organized by the Performing Organization of Arts and Culture, Manipur under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi with Guru Thaba as the project director. During the course of the training program, special emphasis was given on teaching the girl trainees how to use the traditional martial art forms for self defense. A total of 30 girls as well as 8 boys were a part of the programme. In the past few years, Guru Thaba has regularly been training youths and promoting Thangta and folk dances. May 17, 2014

Situation returns to normal in violence-hit Bodo areas of Assam

Assam, May 17 (ANI): The death toll in the mayhem unleashed by militants in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) has reached 36. The curfew, which was imposed on May 2, has been relaxed in Baksa, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts as no fresh violence was reported. The Assam government blamed Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) for killing 36 people, all migrant Muslims. The Centre has sent a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the matter and has deployed additional forces to maintain peace and calm.
