BSE closes points 90.48 up on May 15

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 90.48 points up to stand at 23,905.60. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 14.40 points up to stand at 7,123.15.Titan Company Ltd. and Apollo Tyres were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.99% and 5.64% along with National Aluminium Co.Ltd. and Tata Chemicals Ltd. with an increase of 5.51% and 5.34% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include JandK Bank and Asian Paints with a decrease of 5.45% and 4.89% along with Motherson Sumi and Tata Chemicals with a decrease of 4.81% and 4.58% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 65.84 points at 14,106.36 while the banking sector is up 23.32 points at 16,279.74 and the realty sector is down 16.94 points at 1,515.16.The Indian currency is down 0.59% at Rs 59.33 per dollar. Special prayers across India for Modi's victory day before poll results

Patna /Kaushambi / New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Special prayers were being held across India on Thursday for the victory of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, a day prior to the results of the mammoth general election of the world's largest democracy. Major exit polls forecast BJP and its allies to sweep to a parliamentary majority in the world's biggest ever election. In Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, BJP supporters conducting special prayers said they will continue till Modi takes over as the Prime Minister if BJP is elected to power. Supporters sat around the religious fire along with an idol of Modi, giving offerings to the fire and chanting hymns. Meanwhile, the scenario was no different in Patna and New Delhi with people holding banners and photos of Modi participating in the prayers. May 15, 2014

Luscious varieties of 'King of Fruits' lure crowds to Mango Festival in Goa

Goa, May 15 (ANI): The ongoing Mango Festival in Goa drew a huge crowd of visitors from across the country to savor the delicious taste and tempting flavour of the fruit that is rightly dubbed the 'King of Fruits.' The festival which began on May 13, has been organized by the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Goa and National Horticulture mission and will conclude today. Around 60 varieties were on display, including the Alphonso, Totapuri, Malgoa and Bhishma, besides others. AIADMK expels K Malaisamy for suggesting alliance with NDA, TRS too follows suit

New Delhi/ Hyderabad, May 15 (ANI): AIADMK Chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday expelled former MP K Malaisamy from the party for suggesting that she would support Narendra Modi led NDA government. His expulsion came a day after his remark on the possibility of ties between BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi and Jayalalithaa after the announcement of election results on May 16. Jayalalithaa said that Malaisamy was expelled because he had acted in violation of party's principles and ideologies. And that he has brought disrepute and bad name to the party. Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter K Kavitha also said that the party is not keen to support BJP-led NDA after the result announcement as they had 'some issues' with the NDA. EC bans victory processions in UP, Congress welcomes

New Delhi/ Lucknow, May 15 (ANI): Election Commission on Thursday banned victory processions after the announcement of poll results in UP. Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Umesh Sinha said that the poll panel also tightened security across the state in order to prevent any violence on Friday. High alert has been sounded in 20 districts, including those in the western parts of the State that have been identified as "sensitive" following intelligence reports of threat to law and order. Welcoming the move, Congress leader Meem Afzal said that it is good that the panel has taken cognizance of the violence that took place earlier in the state. May 15, 2014

Pappu Sardar, who owns a food stall, organised a lavish party at midnight which began with a prayer session and ended with dance and jubilation on the streets.
