Police recover huge cache of explosives in Jharkhand

Giridih, July 31 (ANI): Police officials in Jharkhand recovered a cache of explosives from a suspected Maoist hideout. During the search operation in Giridih district, the police team recovered 520 gelatin sticks and 330 electric detonators and also arrested a person. Officer in-charge, Saria police station, Atin Kumar, informed they acted on a tip-off and the Maoist connection is being probed. This is the second major arms haul in eight days from this district. On July 23, a huge cache of arms were recovered by the CRPF. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. The rebel group, which claims to be fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, controls some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large swathes of the eastern, central and southern countryside. Japanese Trade Minister Kazuyoshi Akaba eyes strong relationship with India

New Delhi, July 31 (ANI): Japanese trade and industry minister, Kazuyoshi Akaba, met India's trade minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Thursday in a bid to enhance bilateral ties. Later in the day Akaba also met separately with India's information and broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The two countries are expected to announce plans to accelerate negotiations over Japan's bilateral carbon offset mechanism when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tokyo likely in August for annual talks. A deal would allow Japanese companies to install carbon-cutting technology in India and in return receive carbon credits under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) that can be used to offset their own carbon footprint under the country's emissions target or be sold to the Japanese government. Congress party demands CBI probe in Vyapam scam

Bhopal, July 31 (ANI): The Congress party on Thursday staged a protest over the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh and demanded CBI probe. The anguished protesters took to streets and raised slogans against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and a RSS member Suresh Soni, for their alleged role in employment scam. The protesters also burnt a book by the BJP, titled 'Vyapam ka sach' (truth of employment scam). The state unit president of Congress party in Bhopal city, P.C Sharma, said the book was a big lie. New Delhi, July 31 (ANI): US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Kerry visited India to re-energise the bilateral ties and to narrow the differences on various issues. The US envoy also met a delegation of Indian industrialists and held discussions on strengthening business ties between both countries. New Delhi, July 31 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 192.45 points down to stand at 25,894.97. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 70.10 points down to stand at 7,721.30. IRB Infra and Pipavav Defence were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.79% and 4.55% along with The Ramco Cements Limited and Aurobindo Pharma with an increase of 4.39% and 4.35% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Cadila Health and Max India with a decrease of 4.02% and 3.30% along with Wockhardt and NTPC with a decrease of 3.18% and 3.01% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 97.03 points at 15,490.71 while the banking sector is down 208.90 points 17,485.61 and the realty sector is up 5.56 points at 1,894.02.
