RS Pura, Aug 08 (ANI): After Pakistan handed over to India a BSF jawan who was captured by Pakistan Rangers, BSF Director General, DK Pathak assured that the jawan was treated well and no mishandling was done. He said that after trooper Satyasheel Yadav was swept away to Pakistan by strong currents of River Chenab, civilians and other people helped him across the border and also gave medical assistance to him. Bhopal: Congress protests demanding increase in pension for old people

Bhopal, Aug 08 (ANI): Party workers of Congress staged a protest against the government of Madhya Pradesh on Friday as they demanded rise in pension for the old people. Thousands of widows and old people, along with Congress party workers, held flags and shouted slogans as they encircled the residence of state chief, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in Bhopal. The protesters also presented a memorandum to Sub Divisional Magistrate asking an increase in the pension. Srinagar/ New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): Government employees in Jammu and Kashmir took to streets on Friday, supporting the chief engineer, who resigned after a state minister used unparliamentary language against him. The chief engineer of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Muzaffar Lankar, submitted his resignation to state government after he accused Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, of using abusive language against him during a meeting at Civil Secretariat in Srinagar city. Supporters said Lankar was an honest man and hit out at minister. Protesters also demanded an apology from the government. New Delhi, August 8 (ANI): Devotees carrying religious offerings, thronged Hindu temples on last Monday of auspicious month- long Shravan (monsoon) festival.Thousands of devout Hindus thronged temples dedicated to Lord Shiva on Monday to offer special prayers. According to the Hindu calendar, Shravan is the fifth holy month which ends on ‘Shravan purnima’, or full moon day. Devotees seek blessings of Lord Shiva for peace and prosperity and also take holy baths. Devotees gathered to offer milk, curd, ghee, honey and holy water to Shiva Lingam, a representation of Hindu Lord Shiva. A priest, Ramesh Yadav, in Madhya Pradesh wished peace for devotees and the nation. The saffron-clad devotees also known as ‘kanwarias’ undertake journey of foot to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Ganges River.
