Art exhibition showcases Delhi's heritage through artistic drawings

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): An art exhibition on book 'The Seduction of Delhi' written by Indian diplomat-poet Abhay K was recently held at India International Centre in New Delhi. The poems in the book are based on Delhi monuments which were well illustrated by artistic drawings by Italian artist Tarshito. The drawings have been given a very special treatment by the use of the gold and laakh which highlights the monuments beautifully. The art work was very well received by the various visitors at the event. They were mesmerized by the display of the architecture in such a unique style. The exhibition will continue till January 28 at India International Centre Art Gallery - Annexe Building.

Police officials review security measures ahead of US President Obama's visit to Taj Mahal

Agra, Jan 21 (ANI): A meeting of top police officials was held in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to discuss the security measures to be put in place ahead of the visit of US President Barack Obama. The city of historic Taj Mahal, Agra, is set to become a fortress ahead of Obama's visit on January 27. The Taj Mahal will be closed to visitors on that day. Multi-tier security arrangements are in place for US President's visit. Inspector General (IG), Agra, Sunil Gupta said that an in-depth meeting review of the security arrangements was conducted. Apart from the state police force, Agra has also asked for 10 companies of paramilitary forces from the central government.

IED blast in Imphal, no casualties reported

Imphal, Jan 21 (ANI): A low intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion occurred in Manipur on Wednesday. No casualties have been reported in the blast that took place inside a crematory complex in capital city, Imphal. An eye witness, Ibechaobi said that she was heading back home when they saw smoke rising. Police reached the spot and began investigation. According to reports, the extremist organizations have further appealed to the people of Manipur to safely remain indoors supporting a total shutdown of activities from 9 PM of January 25 to 6 PM of January 26.

Political leaders file nomination papers for Delhi Assembly Polls

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Political leaders from Congress and BJP on Wednesday filed their nomination papers for Delhi Assembly polls. Today is the last day for filing the nomination papers for the polls and the scrutiny of nominations papers would be done on January 22 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is January 24. Manjhi visits clash-hit village, assures action

Muzaffarpur, Jan 21 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi visited a village in Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday and took stock of the situation after communal violence claimed three lives and charred several houses recently. The clash erupted in Azizpur village after a Muslim girl eloped with a Hindu boy from a neighboring village, Bahilwara Mali Tola. On Sunday, body of the boy, who was missing from the past ten days, was found from an agricultural field. After the body was recovered, angry mob rushed to Azizpur village and set houses on fire. PM Modi meets Russian defence minister to deepen bilateral cooperation

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in New Delhi to deepen bilateral cooperation. PM Modi meets Myanmar's Vice President Sai Mauk Kham to improve bilateral relations

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Vice President of Myanmar, Sai Mauk Kham met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. Kham arrived in India on Monday on a five day visit to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries. School student killed in accident in Ranchi, angry mob burns buses

Ranchi, Jan 21 (ANI): A mob, angry at the death of a school student, burnt vehicles in Ranchi on Wednesday. A student of fourth standard was run over in a road accident when a bus and a car were trying to overtake each other. The student died on the spot. However, it is not clear if the student was hit by the bus or the car. Angry people spilled onto the roads, set two buses on fire and blocked traffic to protest against the student's death. In order to clear the road, the police had to chase away the angry mob. An eyewitness, Rakesh Kumar, said the mob could only be controlled once the police teams arrived on the scene. Meanwhile, another eyewitness, Pushpesh Yadav, confirmed the student died on the spot. School students too came out to protest against this accident and shouted slogans demanding justice for the deceased student.
