Cab drivers protest in capital, seek revoke on cab companies' ban

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Hundreds of cab drivers on Friday (December 12) held a protest in New Delhi, demanding the Central government to revoke the ban imposed on a few cab companies, which they said was affecting their business. The Central government has requested that all state governments ban Uber and all other unregistered, web-based taxi companies from operating due to passenger safety concerns after one of the Uber Company's drivers was arrested for allegedly raping a young female passenger. Shouting slogans, the protesting cab drivers demanded the government to revoke its earlier order of ban on some cab companies.

Police constable injured in attack by juveniles in Meerut succumbs to injuries

Meerut, Dec 12 (ANI): A police constable who was injured in an attack by a group of inmates of a juvenile justice home succumbed to his injuries on Friday (December 12) in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh. A group of 16 juvenile justice home inmates attacked the police personnel when they were being brought back to Meerut from Bulandshahr after their court appearance on Thursday. According to police, the juveniles were passing lewd comments on women and when the policemen objected, the boys attacked them. Senior Superintendent of Police, Meerut, Onkar Singh, said the policemen were battered by cricket bats. Additional force has been rushed to the spot and police personnel have been positioned outside the juvenile home.

Elaborate security for PM Modis rally in Kashmir

Rajouri, Dec 12 (ANI): Security forces made elaborate arrangement on Friday (December 12) for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of recent militant attacks. The armed security personnel sensitised the nearby mountainous region as well as the rally venue to prevent any untoward incident. Modi will address an election rally in Rajouri district to seek votes for Bharatiya Janata Party in the fourth phase of polls. The polling will end on December 20 and the results will be declared on December 23.

Pak MPs failed to meet Sumitra Mahajan because of me: Mani Shankar Aiyar part - 1

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on Thursday while addressing a press conference said that he should be blamed for delaying Pakistan MPs because of which the MPs failed to meet Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan. The visit of a Pakistani parliamentary delegation to the Lok Sabha created a flutter after the delegation members claimed that the Speaker did not meet them after giving time. The delegation comprising 12 Pakistani parliamentarians arrived on an initiative taken by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency and their visit to the Parliament House was arranged by Mani Shankar Aiyar.
