It Happens : Art Fair

Tamil Nadu, Dec 12 (ANI): A three-day exhibition on contemporary work displaying a vast range of artistic practice left visitors spellbound in Tamil Nadu. The exhibition is unique as it displays more than 100 exhibits of nearly 60 talents from across the country. The organiser of the exhibition, Geetha Mehra, said that the exhibition covers a wide range of art works. The exhibition displays mesmerising work on various objects including paper, wood, bronze, plastics, broken glass and mud. The work of Valay Shinde, in particular was widely appreciated. Shinde’s work was a tribute to those people who help society function smoothly but receive no recognition. Visitors flocking to the exhibition were amazed at the range of the different mediums on display. The three- day exhibition culminates on December 08.

It Happens : Tree Plantation Drive

Visakhapatnam, Dec 12 (ANI): Residents of the Visakhapatnam planted new trees amid song and dance to create awareness about the need for plantation after hundreds of trees in the city were destroyed by cyclone Hudhud in October. Local residents and volunteers of India Youth for Society were seen dancing on the road to spread awareness about tree plantation. Children and parents also participated in the event with enthusiasm holding placards reading ‘Adopt a plant’, ‘Protect Trees’ and others. The dances attracted a large number of locals who stood watching and clicking pictures on their mobile phones.

Pranab claims in his book Indira didn't know about Emergency provisions, Politicos react

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after President Pranab Mukherjee in his autobiography stated that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was not aware of the Constitutional provisions of Emergency that was imposed in 1975 and it was Siddartha Shankar Ray who led her into the decision. BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao said that these revelations are quite interesting. BSP Chief Mayawati said that it is a matter of investigation. NCP leaders Majid Memon and Tariq Anwar said that it was very big mistake committed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav Indira Gandhi was a very aware Prime Minister.

Beheading at LoC: NDA backs UPA's decision, faces flak

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Modi-led NDA government faced flak on Friday after the government in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court backed the steps that were taken by the Manmohan Singh government when Pakistan had beheaded the soldiers at LoC. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had during the Lok Sabha elections rally slammed the UPA government on its response to the killing of two soldiers. NCP leader Majid Memon said that NDA had talked about many things during election rallies which it failed to follow after forming the government. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that NDA is following UPA's footsteps.

Audi launches A3 Cabriolet in India

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): German Luxury car manufacturer Audi India launched its compact luxury convertible, the A3 Cabriolet in the national capital. Priced at Rs. 44.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), A3 Cabriolet is a 4-seater two door car with a soft top fabric hood which opens and closes in less than 18 seconds, up to a speed of 50km/h. Speaking at the launch Joe King, Head of Audi India said...The new car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h and is powered with 1.8 TFSI petrol engine with a seven-speed S tronic transmission. A3 Cabriolet was earlier showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Congress MPs stage protest outside parliament after Sakshi Maharaj calls Godse a 'patriot'

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Congress MPs on Friday staged protest and shouted slogans outside the parliament raising the issue of Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse being eulogized in Maharashtra. The MPs staged protest after BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj praised Godse and called him a patriot and a nationalist. However, Maharaj retracted after uproar sparked off over his comment.

Jitan Ram Manjhi invites yet another controversy, calls for raising reservation limit to 80%

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi invited yet another controversy as he called for raising reservation limit from present 49.5 per cent to 80 percent for OBCs, SC/STs and other sections of the population. However, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that the party has no such proposal. BJP Spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that Manjhi is actually addressing Nitish Kumar and is paving way to keep the post of chief minister intact in future. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that Manjhi do not deserve to be a deputy minister and is given the post of chief minister and that is what is speaking up. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi said that the criteria for reservation should be economical and people from below poverty line should be given reservations.

Politicos welcome decision to discuss 'Anti-Coversion bill' in Parliament

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday welcomed the decision by the central government to discuss the 'Anti-Coversion bill' in the Parliament. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao welcomed the same and said that if the opposition criticizes the same, it will show their hypocrisy. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the government should not deviate from real issues. NCP welcomed the bill and said that the party will support the same. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal also said that the party chief said a lot on the issue in the Parliament and that the party will support the bill too.
