EC issues showcause notice to Punjab CM for making statement on fund raising

New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): The Election Commission has issued a showcase notice to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly making a statement asking for funds from people. At an election meeting in Jalandhar, Badal had asked people to give funds to the party secretly for campaigning. The EC, in its notice to Badal, has said, "The Commission is, prima facie, of the opinion that by making such statement you have violated the above said provision of Model Code of Conduct and also incited others to violate the law." The poll body, therefore, has given time till Friday to Badal to explain his stand on his statement.

Politicos condemn Chennai train blasts

New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): Politicos across the party line on Thursday condemned the twin bomb blasts at the Chennai Central railway station in which one woman was killed and13 others were injured. The two bombs went off on Thursday in quick succession in two coaches of the Guwahati-Bangalore Express at the Chennai Central railway station. The National Investigation Agency, which usually looks into terror attacks, has sent representatives to collect and examine evidence.

Extremely unfortunate incident: TKS Elangovan on Bangalore-Guwahati Express blast

Chennai, May 01 (ANI): DMK leader TKS Elangovan on Thursday termed the blasts that took place between two coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express train as unfortunate. One person, a woman passenger, was killed, and nine others were injured in the blasts.
