Unconditional apology by Manish Tewari in defamation case filed by Nitin Gadkari

Mumbai, April 30 (ANI): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday tendered an unconditional apology to BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. Tewari had in November 2010 accused Gadkari of holding a 'benami' flat in the Adarsh housing society. Gadkari dragged Tewari to court in December that year, accusing him of defamation. On March 7 this year, the court had taken cognizance of the complaint against Tewari and on April 7, he was asked to pay a bond of Rs. 10,000 to Gadkari.

Modi says God saved him in Patna blasts; hits at Congress-RJD alliance

Samastipur, April 30 (ANI): BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi on Wednesday tried to woo voters in Bihar’s Samastipur. Modi referred to the blasts in Patna on 27 October when he was in the state and said that only God saved him in the incident where many political servants lost their lives. He then took a dig at RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and said that RJD has an alliance with Congress in Bihar but it is not publicized because Congress is scared that if Lalu’s relations with Congress are revealed Congress will be removed from the entire nation.

Narendra Modi takes selfie with party symbol, Congress moves EC

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, April 30 (ANI): Congress on Wednesday filed complaint with Election Commission against Narendra Modi expressing its displeasure over Modi's selfie outside polling booth holding the BJP symbol in his hand after casting his ballot in Ahmedabad. Post voting, Modi clicked a selfie of his inked finger along with party’s election symbol lotus – triggering an instant controversy with Congress party leaders slamming the move as a publicity gimmick and against the laid guidelines of the Election Commission. Reacting on the complaint, BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, quashed it saying that the Congress party is in a distressed state and such complaints reflect their frustration of losing the election. Meanwhile, EC sources said that they would examine if Modi has violated its code or not.

UK Envoy visits polling booths, meets Rajnath Singh in Lucknow

Lucknow, April 30 (ANI): British High Commissioner to India, Sir James David Bevan met BJP Chief Rajnath Singh on Wednesday in Lucknow followed by his visit to the polling booths there. Sir Bevan met Singh who is contesting the general election from Lucknow constituency and extended greetings. Narendra Modi's mother travels in auto to cast her ballot

Gandhinagar, April 30 (ANI): Hiraben, mother of BJP’s PM candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, travelled in an auto rickshaw to cast her vote in Gandhinagar for the Lok Sabha elections. The 77-year-old travelled quietly in an auto sans the cavalcade. Earlier in the day, Modi also cast his ballot in Ahmedabad. After casting his vote, Modi took to Twitter and tweeted his selfie with inked finger and the BJP's symbol.

Pakistan says Narendra Modi will 'destabilise' regional peace if he becomes Indian PM, BJP reacts

New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday claimed that Narendra Modi, if elected as India's Prime Minister, would "destabilise" regional peace as he criticized the BJP leader's recent comments on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The statement came against the backdrop of assertions by Modi that he will bring back Dawood from Pakistan if he comes to power.
