Police says it will take action against Rampal supporters if they march towards VIP location

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): The Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena said on Tuesday that the police will take strict action against the supporters of Sant Rampal if they try to march towards any VIP location like Supreme Court. He added that the police is ready with its force and officers have been deployed in all vulnerable and VIP locations.

Four more crib deaths in Tamil Nadu, toll reaches nine

Dharmapuri, Nov 18 (ANI): Four more infants died at a government-run Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Two were boys and two were girls. Of the four, one was delivered in the hospital while the other three were referred from other hospitals. All the four infants died due to being underweight because of pre-mature delivery and were suffering from respiratory problems. With the deaths on Tuesday, the toll mounted to nine after five crib deaths, which included four girls, were reported on Sunday. However, Dean of Medicine, Dharmapuri Government Hospital, Doctor Elangovan refused to take any responsibility of the deaths on behalf of the hospital. Of the five newborn babies who died on Sunday, three were underweight while the other two had respiratory problems. Reportedly, more than 20 babies are still in the hospital facing same problems and there is a fear that the death toll may increase.

Two police constables and mediapersons injured during clash between police and Sant Rampal's support

Chandigarh, Nov 18 (ANI): Haryana DGP SN Vashisht on Tuesday said that two police constables and mediapersons were injured in the clash between police and Sant Rampal's supporters in Hisar. The Haryana police and Sant Rampal's followers clashed outside the godman's Satlok Ashram in Hisar's Barwala town as the cops tried to arrest him. Vashisht said that the police is trying to handle the case with much sensitivity and that proper actions will be taken against the individual police officer who attacked the mediaperson. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has sought a report on the attack on journalists. The police fired tear gas, used batons and water cannons to disperse Rampal's followers gathered outside the ashram to prevent his arrest and used bulldozers to break through the wall of the ashram, in which several of the disciples have been injured, according to reports.

Political leaders condemn attack on mediapersons by Haryana police outside Rampal's ashram

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday condemned the attack on mediapersons by Haryana police during a clash between the police and the supporters of Sant Rampal outside his Ashram in Hisar. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the state government could have handled it efficiently but their inefficiency lead to such incident. AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said that this shows Haryana police's inefficiency and highlights the government's policies towards such self claimed godman.

PM Modi visits Melbourne cricket ground with Australian PM Tony Abbott

Melbourne, Nov 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the 161-year-old Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to attend a reception and dinner hosted by Australian Prime Minster Tony Abbott. PM Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart posed for photographs with the 2015 Cricket World Cup Trophy, along with former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev among others. Modi also gifted an Indian "Skippers" Memento for Australia while at the MCG. The memento was signed by World Cup winning captains and the PM. Along with Australian PM Tony Abbott, present on the occasion were also Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, VVS Laxman and Allan Border. Modi later posted a selfie with his Australian counterpart saying, "With my friend @TonyAbbottMHR at the MCG." Soon after the dinner, Modi will head for Fiji on the final leg of his three nation tour.
