Suzuki Motorcycle India made a bold step in August by launching a maxi-scooter model christened the Burgman Street. The maxi-scooter style has never experienced great stride in the country and hence, the reception for the Burgman Street was doubtful. However, it looks like the courage has finally paid off as the sales of Burgman Street is increasing day by day.

Suzuki Motor India confirms strong performance in the 125cc premium scooter segment has helped them clock its highest-ever monthly domestic sale of 62,446 units in August 2018. Compared to the sales in August 2017, a growth of over 31 percent has been registered. Though the company has not revealed the specific sales number of each model, it is clear that the Burgman Street is the key model behind the surge in sales.

"We owe this tremendous growth to our flagship brand Suzuki Access 125 and the newly launched Burgman Street 125, which have contributed to more than 55,000 units this month," said Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd.

Priced at Rs 68,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Burgman Street is definitely a head-turner owing to its flamboyant design. Since it has maxi-scooter styling, the large and thick front apron cannot go unnoticed.

It houses LED headlamps, position lamps and turn indicators. Suzuki claims the body mounted windscreen fixed at the front is functional and it reduces the wind blast. The scooter also has a wide stance and wider seating arrangement.

The Burgman Street gets a multifunction, fully-digital instrument panel with a digital clock, fuel gauge, oil change indicator and a dual trip meter. Tubeless tires, front disk brake, 12V charging socket and multi-function key slot are the other premium bits.

Suzuki has opted to go for tried and tested 125cc mill borrowed from the Access 125 to the Burgman Street as well. The air-cooled single-cylinder BS-IV compliant engine develops 8.6hp at 6,500rpm and 10.2Nm at 5,000rpm. The mill comes mated to CVT.

The Burgman Street is employed with a telescopic fork up front and a hydraulic type at the rear. It also gets the combi-brake system as standard. Suzuki offers the Burgman Street in three colour options- Metallic Mat Fibroin Gray, Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Mirage White.
