Diluting nuke liability bill is unacceptable: BJP

New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): The BJP on Wednesday stated that if the government is trying to dilute the Nuke Liability Bill (NLB), ignoring the safety concerns of people of the country then it is completely unacceptable. Opposition leaders, security analysts and experts have questioned the UPA Government's reported move to attempt a dilution of the NLB to suit the needs of the U.S. Government and American firms interested in taking bilateral nuclear commerce with India forward. According to reports, a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) note suggests that prior to his visit to the United States to attend this year's U.N. General Assembly session and to meet President Barack Obama on its sidelines, PM Manmohan Singh appears to be keen to have a diluted version of the NLB signed. The diluted NLB reportedly overlooks several key factors, including security concerns.

Nuclear liability law a 'poll gimmick' of UPA govt: Gurudas Dasgupta

CPI questions govt's rush to dilute nuke liability bill

New Delhi, Sept 19 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Kumar Anjan questioned the UPA Government's reported move to attempt a dilution of the Nuclear Liability Bill (NLB) to suit the needs of the US Government and American firms interested in taking bilateral nuclear commerce with India forward. Talking to mediapersons, he said that the bill is not in favour of the people of the country. According to reports, a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) note suggests that prior to his visit to the United States to attend this year's UN General Assembly session and to meet President Barack Obama on its sidelines, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appears to be keen to have a diluted version of the NLB signed. Muzaffarnagar clashes: Country wants answer from SP govt, says Rashid Alvi

2 found dead in case of suspected honour killing in Haryana

Rohtak, Sep 19 (ANI): In a case of alleged honour killing in Rohtak city of Haryana, a boy was beheaded and a girl was killed and cremated after the two ran away together to New Delhi on Wednesday. The couple was allegedly killed by the girl's family. 23-year-old Dharmender and 20-year-old Nidhi, were from the Jat community and were residing in Gharnavati village in Kalanaur district of Rohtak and had gone missing after they left the village. The two were pursuing higher education in Rohtak and had reportedly decided to elope. Meanwhile, NCW chief Mamta Sharma condemned the incident and sought strict punishment against the culprits.

Government to ease taxation for IT sector

New Delhi, Sept 19 (ANI): In its draft proposal, the Revenue Department of Finance Ministry has proposed lessening of taxation burden for the IT sector so as to enable those engaged in this segment to safely harbour their profits. Revenue Secretary Sumit Bose stated this at a news conference in New Delhi. He said the government had issued a notification with an objective to curb the disputes related to transfer pricing by relaxing the prevailing norms. Further he said that the proposed norms, if finalized, would prevail for five fiscal years.
