Haryana MP Rao Inderjit Singh quits Congress

Rewari, Sept 24 (ANI): Congress MP from Gurgaon, Rao Inderjit Singh, resigned from the party on Monday. Singh, who was recently in news for training his guns on the party's central leadership and on the Bhupinder Singh Hooda -led Haryana Government seeking fair probe into charges against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in controversial land deals, told a gathering here that he will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on a Congress ticket. A four-time legislator in Haryana since 1977, Inderjit was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998, and re-elected in 2004 and 2009.

Pakistan church bombing draws the wrath of Christians in India

New Delhi/Bangalore, Sept 24 (ANI): Christians in India condemned the blasts outside a church in Pakistan which killed at least 78 people in one of the deadliest attack on Christians in the predominantly Muslim country. A pair of suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a 130-year-old Anglican church in Pakistan after Sunday (September 22) Mass. Explosions struck the historic white-stone All Saints Church in the city of Peshawar, near the frontier tribal areas where Islamist militants have their strongholds, as hundreds of parishioners, many of them women and children, streamed out of the building.

BJP lashed out at Chidambaram's attack on Modi over growth rates

New Delhi, Sep 23 (ANI): BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad lashed out at Finance Minister P Chidambaram's attack on Narendra Modi wherein Chidambaram charged Modi with staging a "fake encounter with facts" regarding his claims of economic growth during BJP-led NDA being 8.4 per cent. Sonia Gandhi lays foundation stone of refinery complex in Rajasthan

Pachpadra, Sep 23 (ANI): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation stone of a refinery and petrochemical complex, worth rupees 370 billion at Pachpadra in Barmer region of Rajasthan on Sunday. On the occasion she was accompanied by state chief minister Ashok Gehlot and India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Marpadi Veerappa Moily. In her address, Gandhi called it a 'revolutionary project' and said that the project would bring accelerated growth in the region and millions of people would be benefited from it. Under a joint venture, the central government owned Hindustan Petroleum Chemicals Limited has collaborated with the state government to set up this project, which would be a landmark in the path of economic development in Rajasthan.

Nairobi attack: Family of 13 year old victim pray for his recovery

New Delhi/ Gujarat, Sep 23 (ANI): Grieved family of a a 13-year-old boy of Indian origin hailing from Gujarat pray for his speedy recovery after he was injured in an attack by Islamist militants at an upscale shopping mall in Nairobi. Islamist militants killed at least 68 people in an attack taking many others as hostages. The al Shabaab group that opposes Kenya's participation in a peacekeeping mission in neighbouring Somalia claimed responsibility for the attack. The Indian Foreign Ministry on Sunday confirmed the death of Indian nationals in the assault in Nairobi. Lalit Patel, uncle of the injured boy, Hrithik, told the reporter in Nadiad town of Gujarat that the 13-year-old boy had fractured his leg while trying to save his life during the attack.

Militants attack CISF jawans in Srinagar market; one jawan killed

Srinagar, Sep 23 (ANI): A CISF jawan was killed and another critically injured when suspected militants opened fire at them in Srinagar on Monday. The jawans were purchasing something when the militants fired at them from point blank range. According to reports, the attack took place at the busy market place around 10:30 am. At the time of the attack the security personnel were not carrying any arms, the police said. The injured personnel has been rushed to the hospital. A search operation has been launched for the two militants.
