Major fire breaks out in Bangladesh garment factory, 7 injured

Dhaka, March 07 (ANI): A major fire broke out in garment factory in Dhaka gutting property worth millions while five persons suffered severe burn injuries. The fire broke out around 05:45 pm at Green Leaf Apparels, located on the first and second floors of the building in the area known as Hazaribagh. Five persons were rescued by firefighters while an entire shipment of jackets was gutted down, said factory officials. Ten fire-tenders swung into action to douse the fire. It took an hour for the fire brigade to bring the flames under control. Mar 7, 2014

Indian customs officials recover 6 people with arms in Samjhauta Express

Attari, March 07 (ANI): Indian customs officials arrested six people, including two women at the Attari railway station in Punjab while they were returning from Pakistan on the Samjhauta Express that runs between New Delhi and Lahore. Eleven pistols and 22 empty magazines were seized from them. The alleged arms smugglers, who were coming from Pakistan, had hidden the arms in juicer and wheat mincing machines. Deputy Commissioner of Indian Custom Department, Gurdev Singh, said during routine check up of the luggage, the officials got suspicious and confiscated them. India and Bangladesh officials conduct joint border survey in Tripura

Tripura, March 07 (ANI): A Bangladesh team led by Md Abdul Mannan, Director General of Bangladesh’s Department of Land Records and Survey, was in India to carry out a joint border survey with their Indian counterparts. The Indian team was led by the Director of the Survey of India, NR Biswal. They surveyed some 200 kms of the international boundary, including few disputed points like Kamalasagar, Kaiyerdhepha and Akhaura land port areas, and also finalised the location of the new subsidiary border pillars. The teams had earlier visited a few spots in Sylhet District of Bangladesh. India shares a 4,096 km long border with Bangladesh, the longest boundary it has with any of its neighbors. Mar 7, 2014
