Congress workers protest against Tapas Pal in Kolkata

Kolkata, July 13 (ANI): The workers of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) staged a protest on Sunday against the state government for not taking any action against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Krishnanagar Tapas Pal. The protesters marched the streets with banners and shouted slogans. Earlier, Tapas Pal, who has been advised to take complete bed rest after he complained of a sudden increase in blood pressure, had kick started a controversy when he was caught on tape exhorting party workers to kill (CPI-M) activists even as he himself asserted he will gun down his rivals and let loose his "boys" to rape their women. After his comments created huge uproar in the country, the TMC MP had to tender to his party and the media an apology.

AAP stage protest outside Haryana CM BS Hooda's residence

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): AAP workers on Sunday marched towards Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's residence over various issues ranging from farmers loan woes, toll tax, liquor shops and other corruption issues. Protesters carrying placards and banners, shouted slogans against the state government and protested against the chief minister outside his residence. Police personnel were also present to control the crowd, who refused to leave the place.

Rain brings relief from sultry weather for Delhiites

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): Bringing the temperature several notches down, rains brought respite for Delhiites from the sultry weather conditions on Sunday. Delhi residents were braving humidity and hot weather conditions with temperatures rising to several degrees above normal. The MeT Department had earlier predicted that Delhi might get rains from 15th July. Earlier on Friday, the mercury had touched 42 degrees celsius, seven notches above normal, making the conditions qualify as a 'severe heat wave'. This was only the sixth year since 1969 when the maximum has touched 42 degrees in July.

Bus accident in Solan kills two, leaves several injured

Solan, July 13 (ANI): At least two people were killed and several others injured after bus fell into a 40 feet gorge at Dharighat nearly 30 kilometers from Solan in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. The Bus belonged to Himachal Pradesh Road and Transport Corporation and was carrying 30 people from Solan to Shimla. The injured have been referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital in Shimla and district hospital at Solan. All people have been rescued. The road and transport Minister GS Bali rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Is Ryan Gosling done with movies?

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): Ryan Gosling, who is expecting his first child with long time girlfriend Eva Mendes, once said that he will continue making movies until he has babies. According to a US magazine, the 33-year-old actor said in an interview back in 2011 that it would be harder to make movies when a baby comes along but he was fine with that. He further stated that he had no idea when the handover would happen but till then he would concentrate only on movies. The couple has been dating since 2011 and Mendes is about seven months along, however, she has been concealing her pregnancy ever since.

Kylie Minogue breaks down while talking about split with Michael Hutchence

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): Kylie Minogue was not able to hold back her tears while talking about the "true heartbreak" she still feels even after 25 years of the split with Michael Hutchence. According to a US publication the 46-year-old Australian pop sensation sobbed during an interview as she revealed that her love for the INXS rock star was great and she never met anyone like him. She further added that it's hard to forget about a charismatic person like him and she doesn't know what it was like for other women in his life but her love for him remains. Hutchence, who died in November 1997, ended the two-year relationship they had in late 1980s after meeting supermodel Helena Christensen.

Students participate in marathon as a tribute to mothers

Bhopal, July 13 (ANI): Hundreds of school children and residents of Bhopal participated in a marathon, Mission for Mother, on Sunday. Organised by members of an old age home, Apna Ghar (our home), the marathon took place with the intention of reminding people of their mother's sacrifices and so that no mother is sent to an old age home when she needs her children the most. The event focused on making people aware of the life a mother lives for her children. Present at the event were senior women citizens who live in an old age home. Killings on border unacceptable: Former Bangladesh Foreign Minister

Agartala, July 13 (ANI): Former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dipu Moni strongly said that deaths on the borders and use of lethal weapons by border guards are unacceptable. She added that the killings at the border are a very serious concern for Bangladesh and the country had taken this up with the Indian authorities very strongly. Moni added that the border killings fortunately have gone down but should go down to zero. Protest outside Israel Embassy over Israel bombing in Gaza

New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): People on Sunday came out in droves outside Israel Embassy to protest against Israel's continuing bombing on Gaza. Even after continued international pressure, Israel refuses to stop its operation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Israel is using twice the force it has used in the past and has attacked more than 1,000 targets. At least 121 people have died in the Israeli air strikes.
