Assam Students Union protest infiltration of Bangladeshis in state

Guwahati, July 22 (ANI): Various activist groups, including tribal organisations and All Assam Students Union (AASU) staged a protest in Assam against the state government for its inability to stop Bangladeshis infiltrate into the state. The proposal sent by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi___s cabinet to the central government to accommodate Bangladeshis on humanity grounds has not been welcomed by the people of the state. Last week, the state cabinet passed a proposal to grant Indian citizenship to refugees who fled Bangladesh to avoid religious persecution and entered the country after 1971. However, on earlier occasions, Assam government has fought ruling BJP___s ideology to consider Hindu Bangladeshis as refugees coming to India under hard conditions.

Wife defends husband accused of child_s sexual assault in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 22 (ANI): Wife of accused in sexual assault case of a six-year-old girl in Bangalore has defended her husband. Public anger erupted after two staff members raped a girl on the school premises. Skating instructor of the public school, Mustafa, was arrested on Sunday by the city police. However, Mustafa_s wife, Ayesha Siddiqua, said watching malicious content on laptop does not guarantee that he has done something wrong. Meanwhile, victim_s father, Kiran Reddy, met state education minister Kimmane Ratnakar, who assured him of safer environment in schools. The crime took place on July 02 in a school campus during class hours, which led to city-wide protests.
