Yechury criticizes govt for inviting Obama on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday criticised the government's decision to invite United States President Barack Obama as the chief guest on Republic Day. He added that all the left parties decided to hold nation-wide demonstrations ahead of US Presidnet Barack Obama's visit to register their protest. Yechury further alleged that a dangerous terror outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was born because of US administration's policies of military interventions in several countries. Naqvi taken into custody for breaching prohibitory orders during 2009 LS polls, gets bail

Rampur, Jan 14 (ANI): Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was taken into judicial custody in Rampur on Wednesday for alleged poll code violation. Naqvi's arrest took place after a local court in Rampur sentenced him to one year in jail for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2009 general elections. However, Naqvi was later released on bail. An FIR had been registered against Naqvi and his supporters during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections in Rampur. Naqvi had allegedly breached the prohibitory orders in force and barged into a police station along with his party workers at Patwai area of Rampur parliamentary constituency while campaigning for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
