Dhaka, Jan 03 (ANI): A mass demonstration was held in Dhaka demanding life sentence for war criminals. The slogan-shouting protesters, under the banner of Resurgent Platform, demanded immediate execution of leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, convicted of war crimes during the 1971 Liberation war of Bangladesh, along with other war criminals. The protesters shouted slogans against the government for dilly-dallying with the execution of Kamaruzzaman and other war criminals. Four civilians injured in cross-border firing hospitalized in Kashmir

Jammu/Ramgarh, Jan 03 (ANI): Four civilians, who were injured in shelling from across the border in Kashmir, were admitted to a government hospital in Jammu on Saturday (January 03). The injured belonged to Ramgarh and Hiranagar towns of Jammu region.Mohammad Hussain, a villager, said the firing hasn't stopped from more than twelve hours. In the fresh assault, Pakistani Rangers targeted several Indian paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) posts in Ramgarh town of Jammu district early Saturday. Varanasi/Amritsar/Visakhapatnam, Jan 2 (ANI): Indians on 1st January kick started the New Year celebrations by visiting shrines to offer prayers. Long queues of faithful could be seen outside major Hindu and Sikh shrines across India. The faithful believe visits to temples on the New Year day bring prosperity, good health and peace in the family. The northern temple town of Varanasi, nestled on the banks of the holy river Ganga, woke up to holy chants by priests. The temple was teeming with the faithful since early morning. Foreign tourists, who regularly visit this temple town for solace, were spellbound by the elaborate rituals. In the northern Indian city of Amritsar, devotees were seen thronging the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, since early morning. Many took a holy dip before taking part in the prayers. Some of the devotees said they looked forward to a drug free Punjab in 2015. Temples in Visakhapatnam in southern Andhra Pradesh witnessed large flow of devotees on the occasion of "Vaikuntha Ekadashi" which coincides with New Year. Kochi, Jan 2 (ANI): Huge crowd gathered at Fort Kochi Beach in India's southern state of Kerala on Tuesday to watch bikers race on sand. Bikers from Kerala and neighboring states participated in the race which was part of the ongoing Cochin Carnival 2014. Professional and amateur bikers chased down each other to win the 30th edition of the race. He further said due to less sponsors, not many bikers participated in the race but it still drew huge crowd being a popular event. Each participant is required to have a valid license to take part. Special tyres with huge blocks of rubber are installed in a bike for better grip and to avoid skidding during the race. The crowd enjoyed the race and cheered whenever a biker passed by. The bikers practice for months on the beach to participate in this event. Trainers are also available but in less numbers. Cochin Carnival 2014 is one of the most awaited events in southern city of Kochi where tourists from other countries also come to witness the revelry.
