One such experimentation of trendy shawls was done by Mrs. Mridula Jain when shawls were available in very limited designs. It was her vision of bringing up designer shawls in the market in 1986 that became very popular among people. She now heads Shingora Textiles Ltd. in Ludhiana city of Northern Punjab state. Following the new innovations and techniques available in the market, shawl industry in India today stands at around 800 crore. Enthusiasts, students flock to bird fair in Jaipur

Jaipur, Jan 30 (ANI): Bird lovers and students flocked to the 18th annual Indian Birding Fair in pink city Jaipur. The two-day fair dedicated to biodiversity conservation is being held at the city's famed Man Sagar Lake. Though largely a citizen's initiative, it is being led by the Tourism and Wildlife Society of India. The fair, which was started in 1997 to protect the then dying lake, received positive response, year after year. Bird watchers showed children and other enthusiasts the birds through binoculars and telescopes. Visitors also attended seminars on conservation. Many overseas experts are expected to visit as well. As per reports, the fair has received support from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-India, the Indian Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) and other organisations. Jan 31, 2015

People in Kashmir eat spicy traditional cuisine 'Harissa' to fight cold

Srinagar, Jan 31 (ANI): Kashmiris are flocking restaurants to relish a special mutton dish which helps them fight biting cold. The traditional mouth-watering cuisine Harissa is a much-sought after dish in the state during winters. Harissa is prepared with mutton meat, rice, milk and a lot of spices. The mixture is cooked for long on fire, stirred continuously to make it mushy and smooth. When served, hot oil is poured on top of it and it is served with traditional Kashmiri naan (bread). A customer Farooq Ahmed said that Harissa is good for health. The more than 100-year-old dish is a regular in breakfast menu in almost every household when temperatures dip to sub-zero levels during winters. The dish is also popular among visiting tourists as it is not available elsewhere in India.
