BJP blames JD (U) leadership for Bihar govt crisis

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): BJP leaders on Sunday reacted over crisis regarding government formation in Bihar. BJP leaders GVL Narasimha Rao, Rameshwar Chaurasia and Prem Ranjan Patel said that JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar are responsible for the ongoing crisis in Bihar. Patel said that as far as giving support to Jitan Ram Manjhi is concerned the BJP leadership will decide upon that.

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): JD (U) leader Mahachandra Prasad said on Sunday that the ongoing crisis regarding government in Bihar is because of the disturbance in assembly and division of opinion of ministers. Prasad said that the Jitan Ram Manjhi government has asked for some time from the Governor to extend the Cabinet. He also said that the party may split if division of opinion continues. Prasad added that Manjhi may even take support from the BJP if required to stay in government.

Delhi witnesses record voter turnout of over 67 percent

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): New Delhi witnessed a record voter turnout of 67.08 percent as Delhiites exercised their franchise to elect a new government. Delhi went to polls for the second time in 14 months on Saturday after the last elections in December 2013 threw up a hung Assembly. Voters came out in large numbers to cast their votes and surpassed the 2013 polling percentage of over 65 percent, said Chief Electoral Officer, Chandra Bhushan Kumar. Kumar said that the polling went off peacefully. The official results would be announced on February 10.

Arunachal Pradesh aims to export quality Mandarin orange

Arunachal Pradesh, Feb 08 (ANI): Mandarin Orange is the oldest cultivated major fruit of Arunachal Pradesh. If occupies over 45 per cent of total area under fruit crops and contributes about 57 per cent of total fruit production in the state. Area expansion in Mandarin orange is being taken up in Siang district, Lohit, Dibang Valley, East Kameng districts and Dambuk valley. Recently, a two-day long orange festival under the theme ‘poetic in nature’ was held at Dambuk valley. The Festival was held inside an orange orchard with around 200 orange trees attracting the local people as well visitors from other districts. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki inaugurated the event. Various cultural troupes from different tribes like Adis, Misings and Idus performed their colorful traditional dances and songs. American artist Scott Moses Murray, Guru Rewben from Manipur, Taba Chake from Arunachal Pradesh and many other music bands enthralled the audience with their music. The pro-active approach of the government to promote horticulture will give boost to the economic and social upliftment of farmers in the state.

Boating introduced in Manipur's Loktak Lake to attract tourists

Manipur, Feb 08 (ANI): Situated in the Bishnupur district, some 48 kilometers from Imphal, the Loktak Lake stretches up to 250 square kilometer area. One of the largest freshwater lakes of India, Loktak is also home to the world's only floating National park, Keibul Lamjao National Park. Surrounded by hills, the scenic beauty of the lake and the rich biodiversity attracts large crowds. Recently, the Loktak Lake Tourism Development Society introduced boating facility to attract tourists. There are more than 20 boats of different passenger capacity to ferry tourists across the lake. Some of these boats are fitted with music system and serve meal during the ride. The fare per person for a trip is Rs.20 to Rs .200, depending upon the hiring time and facilities.
