Chennai building collapse death toll reaches 29, rescue operation intensifies

Chennai, July 1 (ANI): Rescuers on Tuesday intensified search operation and recovered a total of 29 bodies from the debris of an 11-storey under-construction building that collapsed in Chennai on Saturday. According to reports 26 persons have been taken out alive from the debris. Improved technologies like drones have been deployed for tracing the bodies of the trapped workers. On Sunday Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu had announced an ex-gratia of rupees 500,000 each to the family of workers from his province who were killed in the mishap.

France proposes 1 billion euro credit line for India projects

New Delhi/ Gurgaon, July 1 (ANI): France proposed to give India a one billion euro credit line to fund sustainable infrastructure and urban development projects, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Tuesday. The credit line would be available over three years and would be delivered through the French Development Agency, Fabius told reporters in New Delhi. India, which has said it needs $1 trillion of investment by 2017 to upgrade its creaking infrastructure, is keen to attract foreign development agencies and companies to help finance new roads, railways and cities.

Politicos head to MP assembly on bullock cart to protest against price hike

Bhopal, July 1 (ANI): Congress leaders in Bhopal arrived in bullcok carts and horse carts for the assembly session to show their resentment against price hike on Tuesday. India's state-run oil companies on Monday hiked price of petrol by rupees 1.69 per litre and diesel 0.50 paise per litre as ruling BJP hinted at less import due to crisis in Iraq. With the budget session of Parliament beginning from July 07, the ruling BJP is being severely criticised across the nation for its decision to increase the prices of essential commodities. Ahead of his maiden budget this month, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is grappling with a food inflation scare, and now faces the risk that higher oil prices could swell the government's subsidy bill.

Singapore Foreign Minister meets Indian counterpart in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 01 (ANI): Singapore's Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam, who is on a five-day visit to India to strengthen bilateral cooperation, met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Tuesday. Devi Sri Prasad to tune up for Vijay

Gadkari denies commercial interest in e-rickshaw manufacturing sector, politicos react

New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): Union Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari has denied reports of him having any commercial interest in the e-rickshaw manufacturing sector. Gadkari's office claimed that the minister has no links with the Purti Group Technologies which manufactured e-rickshaw. It was reported in media that Gadkari has links with the company which manufactures e-rickshaw in the country after the minister decided to lift the ban from e-rickshaw.

US allowed NSA to spy on BJP, claims Snowden in leaked documents
