Maoists gun down village head in Odisha

Malkangiri, Sep 11 (ANI): Acting with brazen impunity Maoists killed a village head whom they had accused of being a police informer in Odisha. The incident took place at a remote village of Padia in Maoists hit Malkangiri district of Odisha. Police has been thoroughly investigating the matter, as the exact reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. The killing came shortly after nine Maoists surrendered before the police in the district on Monday (September 09).

Liberian President discusses bilateral issues with Khurshid

New Delhi, Sep 11 (ANI): President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, held discussions with External Affairs Minister, Salman Khurshid on Wednesday (September 11) over bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest during her five-day visit to the country. Sirleaf flew to India on Monday (September 09) at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee. Sirleaf is being accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Liberian Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Agriculture, Commerce and Industry, Information, Culture and Tourism, Lands, Mines and Energy and Gender development, besides senior Government officials and representatives of Apex trade bodies.

Sibal calls violence in Muzaffarnagar as shameful

New Delhi, Sep 11 (ANI): Union Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal, called the religious riots in Muzaffarnagar that killed at least 32 people and forced hundreds to flee their homes, as a shameful act and a sign of rising tension between Hindus and Muslims ahead of 2014 general election. Earlier in the day, curfew relaxation for four hours by the authorities brought some respite to the residents of the violence-hit area.

BJP lashed out at SP govt for Muzaffarnagar clashes

New Delhi, Sep 11 (ANI): Taking a jibe at the Samajwadi Party government in UP, BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that SP government is intentionally giving fire to communal sentiments in the state. Obama vows to explore diplomatic route on Syria

In an address to the nation from the White House, Obama said Russia's proposal for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to give up chemical weapons - could head off his plan for a limited military strike in Syria. Prayers resume at Kedarnath Temple

Dehradun/ Kedarnath, Sept 11 (ANI): The deathly silence brooding over Kedarnath for the past 86 days since the June calamity hit Uttarakhand broke on Wednesday by the chanting of Vedic hymns as prayers resumed at the Himalayan shrine.The Puja began with a 'shuddhikaran' of the temple and 'prayashchitikaran' (atonement for prolonged suspension of prayers at the shrine). 'Teerth' purohits and Badrinath Kedarnath Samiti officials accompanied the chief priest as the prayers resumed. Anti-Maoist outfit TSPC threatens Maoists and greedy landlords

Lohardaga, Sep 11 (ANI): Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), an armed anti-Maoist group in Jharkhand warned the ultras not to harass innocent villagers and indulge in killing those who don't pay taxes demanded by them.
